What is music theory? Music theory is the study of the practices and possibilities of music. Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Choir students worked on music theory project presentations. They learned about music notation, created a diagram presentation, and taught the music notation lesson to the class!

Fridays with Frazier moves from COVID and computers to the magic that happens in the classroom.
This week we feature Mrs. Laurie Titsworth’s Pre-K class at Westside Elementary School, where they incorporated the magic of the season to teach letters, sounds, reinforce colors, introduce graphing, all tied together with a bow and a book.

Merriam Webster defines distance learning as, “a method of study where teachers and students do not meet in a classroom but use the Internet, e-mail, mail, etc., to have classes.” Simply put, distance learning is when students are separated from teachers. Our teachers are missing our students, but we are lucky to get to continue educating through distance learning!

Presentations are a great way for students to gain speaking skills, listening skills, and writing skills. It's also a great confidence builder!
Our 6th Grade Current Events class learned presentation skills and gave their very first presentation, "All About Me" to the class. They shared their personality traits, their learning styles, and cool information about themselves, their families, and their best furry friends!

My name is Mikayla Blankenship and I teach 6th grade English at WRJH. I grew up in Talala, Ok, and graduated from Oologah High School in 2014. I graduated from Evangel University with an Early Childhood and Elementary Education degree in December of 2017. This is my 4th year teaching and my 2nd year as part of the Zebra family.
I have a beagle puppy named Scout at home that keeps my life interesting! I enjoy spending time with my friends and family as well as working for my church when I'm not at school.
I became a teacher because I wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of the next generation. I love getting to see the "aha!" moments that happen each day in the classroom as the students start to "get it." I enjoy being a small part of their educational experience as they grow, change, and take ownership in their learning a little bit more every day. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

🎬Movie stars in the making🎬
The 8th grade drama students have learned about skill voice inflection by identifying an emotion and applying appropriate volume, pitch, emphasis, and pacing. To practice this skill, the students read children's books that teach a moral aloud to the class!

Distance Learning DAY 2...we miss our students! Mrs. Bacon and Mrs. Hurt miss their students' faces so much they are using cardboard cut-outs for lessons!
