Mrs. Roller’s students have welcomed some tiny new classmates—caterpillars! 🐛❤️ The students have carefully chosen names for each one and are giving them lots of love and care as they grow.
Soon, these little crawlers will transform into beautiful butterflies, and the class can’t wait to release them onto our playground! 🦋🌿 Stay tuned for updates on their incredible journey!

A big THANK YOU to our friends from The Brace Place!
Yesterday, our Kindergarten through 2nd grade students had a special visit from The Brace Place team, who shared all about tooth and mouth health! They taught us the importance of brushing, flossing, and keeping our smiles strong and healthy!
The presentation was not only informative, but super fun—with hands-on learning that kept our kiddos engaged and excited. We’re so grateful they spent the day with us at Catalayah!

Shhh... don’t tell anyone, but we have the BEST librarian ever! (Just kidding—go ahead and tell everyone! 📢)
Mrs. Ritter is the heart of our library, the keeper of the best book recommendations, and the only person who can find that one book with the blue cover that we saw once but don’t remember the title of.
She’s as sweet as a storybook ending and as magical as a library card with no overdue fines. 🪄📖
Help us show Mrs. Ritter some love tomorrow—she deserves a standing ovation (as long as it’s a quiet one! ).

Now that you know the exciting new plan to join us for the celebration!!!

Fun April Fool’s day pranks! Mrs. Casey's class had a flood drill, learned about marshmallow harvesting, an impossible word search and brown E’s followed by real brownies!
Mary in the cafeteria gave our students Easter Eggs filled with veggies 😳
Mrs. Haltom and Mrs. Hall both got called from the office to leave because their moms came to take them home for the rest of the day. 😂
It was all in fun and a great day!!

Last week, Chef Ryan stopped by with a special treat—fresh mango! 🍴👨🍳 Our staff and students got the chance to taste this delicious fruit, and we LOVED seeing how excited the kids were to try something new!
From first bites to big smiles, it was a fun (and tasty) experience for all! Who’s ready for the next food adventure?

🌟 Happy Paraprofessional Day! 🌟
Today, we celebrate 15 of the most incredible ladies who work tirelessly to support our students, teachers, and school community at Catalayah Elementary!
Not only do they provide care and guidance in the classroom, but they also jump in wherever and whenever they’re needed—filling in for different roles, answering every call for help, and doing it all with a smile. They are the true MVPs of our school!
"Paraprofessionals: The glue, the duct tape, and the magic that holds it all together!"
We couldn’t do it without you! Thank you for your endless patience, quick thinking, and ability to handle just about anything that comes your way. ❤️🤍🖤

Mrs. Norris took storytime to the next level—she became the Big Bad Wolf! Dressed for the part and armed with a “huff and puff” (aka a hairdryer), she put our little pigs’ houses to the ultimate test. 🏠🐷
Did the straw and stick houses survive? Or did only the brick house stand strong? 🤔🔥 Either way, laughter filled the classroom as students got a hands-on (and wind-blown) lesson in fairy tale fun!

Yesterday, our students had the incredible opportunity to meet Jermaine Lyles (Jay Lyles), the talented author of Galaxy the Gigantic Gorilla, Jay the Jazz Playing Jaguar, Adore’s First Day of School, and The ABCs of What I Want to Be! Books can be purchased on Amazon if interested!
He shared his amazing stories, inspired young minds, and left feeling just as special as he made our kiddos feel! 💙 In his words, “You have some very special kiddos who made me feel wonderful.” 🥰
A special tribute in his books goes to Miss Tama Breen for her kindness and generosity—what a beautiful way to honor someone! ❤️ We love that she was able to come with him to our school to read some of the books!!!
Thank you, Mr. Lyles, for bringing the magic of storytelling to our school!

Ms. Lopez’s class lit up their learning—literally! 🔆💡 Students explored the basics of electricity by building a simple circuit, connecting wires from a battery to a light bulb to complete the flow of electric current. Through hands-on experimentation, they discovered how electricity moves through a closed circuit, why conductors like metal wires help transfer energy, and what happens when a circuit is broken. It was a shocking good time!

Mrs. T's GT students leveled up their math skills with a new game—Prime Climb! They kicked things off by watching a tutorial from one of the game’s creators, Dan Finkel, then dove into the action. This colorful, strategy-packed game challenges players to think critically while practicing key arithmetic skills. Since our 4th-grade class is bigger than the usual 2-4 player setup, students also put their strategic thinking to the test with another favorite—Blokus! It was a day full of fun, logic, and friendly competition! ♟️➕✖️
