Ms. Butcher’s dad worked the clean-up for 9/11 as a Chaplin. He drove by car from Tulsa to help and was there for about 3 weeks. There is still residue on the helmet, around the rim. Many people signed his helmet after and students pointed out how there were pilots, other Chaplains, Police, and Firefighters that signed it also. We went on to talk about being a hero is something we can do every day. Along with respecting heroes and taking a moment of silence during our morning Rise and Shine. We are so thankful that she took the time to share this with all our 5th-grade students! They weren’t alive when it happened but we know they will never forget learning about it because of this. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Yesterday we had the sweetest delivery!! Friends from Claremore Assembly of God brought us some delicious cookies and some supplies!! Thank you for supporting our Teachers and Staff!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Ms. Henry's 5th grade Science class has been talking about Properties of Matter. They did an experiment using vinegar and baking soda. They talked about solid (powder) and liquid (vinegar) when you combine the two it creates bubbles (gas). They had to go through the scientific method and make a hypothesis! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

CPS will be closed on Monday, September 4th, in honor of the Labor Day holiday. Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers.  It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.  This weekend, as we spend time with our families and friends, celebrate the value of an honest day’s work, the people who built America, and our nation’s advancements because of the American labor force.  #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

‼ REMINDER - EARLY RELEASE = PLC MEETINGS FOR TEACHERS 📅 Begins August 25th Dismissal 🕑Elementary- 2:00p 🕝Secondary - 2:30p Early release for our kids means meeting time for our teachers. This time is excellent for lesson planning, district meetings, and sharing ideas with our teacher friends across the district. Professional learning communities (PLCs) are a collaborative approach to professional development. Small groups of educators meet regularly to explore new concepts, share expertise and insights from their teaching experiences, and engage in collective problem-solving. We are lucky we have this time and the technology to meet with teachers from all over the district to maximize our time together. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
