The Oklahoma Caring Van will provide FREE immunizations for children at the Claremore enrollment center March 21st & 23rd from 10a - 12p. A parent/guardian must complete the required paperwork. Services will be provided to children who are uninsured, Medicaid eligible, or American Indian. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We had all hands on deck this week!! A couple of our retired teachers came to help with Vision Screenings!!! The kids were so excited to see Mrs. McQueen and Mrs. Seidel in the building!! We also put Officer Hagen to work yesterday. He subbed in a class for a few mins (see the nervous look on his face 😂) and did some office work. Lol!! Catalayah is so lucky to have so many people willing to help out whenever and however they can!!!! It’s a Great Day to be a Zebra! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mr. D took his chorus students to Circle of the State this weekend. Goals of Circle the State with Song • Provide an opportunity for exceptional music students to work with guest choral clinicians on challenging music and for an exciting choral experience with other students in the region • Allow music teachers to observe and learn as the clinician works with the students and to share vocal pedagogy ideas with other teachers • Provide an opportunity for students to perform children’s choral repertoire of excellent quality It was such a great experience for our students. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Cole’s dinosaur unit has come to and end, but not without an exciting finale! They erupted their volcano and discussed the possibility that this may have been the cause for dinosaur extinction. Ask your child to tell you all about the dinosaurs. They learned a lot of big words and enjoyed learning about the different types of dinosaurs and their names. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Monnot from the City of Claremore, Storm Water Department came to Catalayah to show our 5th graders about water quality. 5th graders have the opportunity to participate in an art contest. As a prize, the winner gets to have their art displayed on a trash truck for the next few years. Mrs. Monnot taught the students about recycling and how recycling will help keep the world clean. Keeping the world and the water clean will even help save the animals. Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products. Recycling can benefit your community and the environment. 5th graders (that want to participate) are asked to create a poster highlighting the effects pollutants have on Claremore and our Earth. Posters are due to Mrs. Coffey by March 1st. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We have a couple shout outs today!!! A couple of weeks ago these high school students were exempt from their finals and spent their days volunteering and helping us!!! INCENTIVES FOR BLOCK TEST EXEMPTIONS At the completion of the 2nd and 4th blocks, high school students who have zero missing assignments, have not been suspended or placed in In-House detention, have 3 absences or less and an overall grade of an A or B will have the opportunity to be exempt from their block test. We were so happy these amazing students chose to spend their day with us. Keep up the good work!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Catalayah GT ~ there was great excitement today! Our new manipulatives, games, and art supplies purchased with a grant from Claremore Public Schools Foundation arrived. 3rd & 4th got to truck the boxes from Mrs. Story’s office. The grant was written for the district elementary Gifted classes, so tomorrow 5th will help me load half of it to deliver to Claremont/Roosa students. There are some really cool materials that will greatly benefit our kiddos! The students have been preparing water bottles to create their Dale Chihuly-inspired art installation. It’s going to be fabulous! Each student has also chosen a famous figure from the 1920’s to research. 3rd & 4th are using Google Slides and 5th will use Google docs to begin practicing essay skills.
