With cold weather upon us, we remind our bus rider families to download our STOPFINDER APP to their mobile phones. The GPS option allows you to put a geofence around your stop and the app will notify you when the bus has entered that area. It also allows you to see where the bus is on the route in real-time, at your convenience. Download available for FREE from the App Store or Google Play. Mrs. Monnot from the City of Claremore, Storm Water Department came to Catalayah to show our 5th graders about water quality. 5th graders have the opportunity to participate in an art contest. As a prize, the winner gets to have their art displayed on a trash truck for the next few years. Mrs. Monnot taught the students about recycling and how recycling will help keep the world clean. Keeping the world and the water clean will even help save the animals. Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products. Recycling can benefit your community and the environment. Information for the poster submission is attached. We would like to have all posters turned in by March 2nd. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Look at our new 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Faught!!! Her class got to make the "Class Family Rules ". They came up with eight rules that would be good to follow in class. They also read a book called "Happy New Year". I can't wait to see what else they do in this class. Welcome Mrs. Faught!!!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Newman's class shared one thing they got for Christmas and passed the yarn. At the end they made a giant spiderweb!! After their talk about Christmas they moved right on to New Years!! They had a count down and blew their party horns when they reached "midnight"!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Catalayah teachers are getting in some training, team building activities, wellness activities and collaborative meetings today. I think its safe to say we are READY for our kids to come back tomorrow!!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

I bet our kiddos are ready for some more Battleship with Mrs. Branco right about now!!! It's like the board game. The kids have dodgeballs to throw and hit the bowling pins down. Each side has 8 pins. They win when all of the pins are down. It's also doegeball. If they get hit they have to do 5 jumping jacks to get back in. Happy New Year from Claremore Public Schools. As we enter into a new year, we all seem to take time to reflect on our lives, habits, choices from the past and contemplate how they impact our future. This reflection can lead to new inspiration, goals, resolutions, or a new focus. Instead of adding to it, some consideration may lead to removing obstacles or habits from our lives. Before the break we were able to hand out a lot of Character Counts certificates!!! Every student that received one was announce during Rise and Shine! Mrs. Hall got the chance to get pre-k students in the stem lab!!! How cool is that?!? She started teaching them about her sphero robots!!! The pre-k students get to use the sphero tilt option. Sphero is your own personal robot that you program or control with a tilt, touch, or swing of your tablet. Mrs. Hall let them use their robots to paint a picture!!! Each group used their tablet to control their robots and spread the paint. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Have your kids told you about Mrs. Coffey’s light board?? Hers belonged to an architect that was getting a new one and gave her the old one for her school. The possibilities are endless with this light board. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

2nd grade WIN time. We love this break in our day for the kids to work on exactly what they need!!! Electronics help make learning fun with the different apps and games for the kids to work on. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

During free time in Mrs. Brassfield’s computer class students love to explore. Some students like to get on Google earth and visit places all over the world. Of course they like to check out their house and grandmas houses too!!! Another popular free time choice is the Santa Tracker!! Have your kids checked to see where Santa is lately?? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Kindergarten WIN time!!! During WIN (what I need) kindergarten students get the time to practice letters, work on motor and social skills or anything else they need to work on. WIN time is a great addition to our daily schedule. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
