We are looking for people who love kids, who value an opportunity to positively influence the lives of our students, and see these young people as precious cargo. 🚌District bus drivers work either four or five-hour routes per day. In the past, driving positions have proven to be a good fit for many retirees looking to make extra money while keeping them active in the community. In addition, it is a good income source for college students or parents looking for extra money. Drivers come from diverse backgrounds, but they have one common thread; they enjoy being around and helping the kids. 🚌 If you are interested in becoming a Claremore Public School bus driver, please contact Jennifer Hayes, CPS Transportation Director, for additional details. The job does require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with school and passenger endorsements. The school district will reimburse these costs and starting pay begins at $15 per hour. **Staff Spotlight** Mrs. Newman, Kindergarten I graduated High School from Union High School in Tulsa. After that I went to college at Oklahoma State University. GO POKES!! My goal is that every child in my class knows they are loved! This is my 22nd year teaching. I took 4 years off to stay home with my twins. I have been teaching in Claremore for 12 years with 5 months of it at Catalayah. I enjoy watching my kids play sports! I also teach English to children in China. I love to play games with my family. I have been married for 23 years to my high school sweetheart, Cameron. We have boy/girl twins who are 16 and attend Claremore High School. We also have a 15 pound Silky Terrier named Baxter, and a 150 pound Great Dane named Rocky. My favorite quote is "Be the reason someone smiles today!" #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Our first grade students have been working on such a cute wall display for our hallway. Each student picked a staff member, lunch lady or custodian to tell us why they think they are worth more than gold!!! They turned out so cute!!! **Staff Spotlight** Para, Mrs. Wolf I graduated from Hilo High School in Hawaii, and then went to the University of Hawaii. I have been working for Claremore Public School for 2 years. The first year I was at Westside Elementary and this is my first year at Catalayah. I love the ah hah moments... when they realize that they CAN do what they feel they couldn't. During the summer I enjoy spending time and making new memories with my family. In my free time I enjoy relaxing and catching up on house work. My husband Mike works at Riverside Ford in the internet sales Dept. We have been married for almost 17 years. We have 4 children Michael Jr. 28, Austin 20, Makayla 11 and Aedyn 10. We also have a daughter in law Emily and 2 grandchildren Robert 10 and Elliana 2. I was born and raised in Hawaii and moved to the mainland in 1998. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

**Staff Spotlight** 2nd Grade Teacher, Mrs. Wallis I went to High School at Broken Arrow and Catoosa. After that I attended and graduated from Rogers State University. I love the personable connections I make with each student. I love getting to see them not only grow academically within the year that I have them, but also continue to grow year after year. I have been teaching 2 years in the classroom and have been working for Claremore Public Schools for 9 years. This is my first year teaching at Catalayah. I live on a farm so I am usually taking care of some sort of animal. During the warmer months you can always catch me outside either swimming, camping or doing a craft project. I married my high school sweetheart, Dakota. He works at QuikTrip. We have 2 kids Aimory 3rd grade and Dawson is in Pre-K. We have been together for almost 15 years. One thing I want to do that I have never done before is going to Bora Bora. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Last week we celebrated the 100th day of school. We sorted, colored and stacked 100 items. The kids were able to show off their 100 days of school projects and some of them even dressed like they were 100 years old. This week during Read Across America, students are anxiously awaiting a visit from The Grinch, who is encouraging students to Drop Everything and Read! Kids are learning to appreciate those few minutes of uninterrupted reading time. Ask your child if they have had a visit from The Grinch yet!
