*Staff Spotlight* 4th Grade Teacher, Mrs. Williams I graduated High School from Oologah High School and then went on to college at RSU, OSU and NSU. I have been teaching for 18 years, the last 5 years have been at Catalayah. My favorite thing about teaching is I love the spontaneous moments in the classroom when a personal connection is made between students and the material that's being learned. In my free time I enjoy gardening, reading, cooking and riding my motorcycle. I have been married to Nathan for 6 years. Nathan also works for Claremore Public Schools in the Tech Department. We have 3 children. A book character I would like to be is Laura Ingalls because she was so spunky and adventurous. My favorite quote is: "Do what you feel in your heart to be right- for you will be criticized anyway."- Eleanor Roosevelt One thing I would like to do that I've never done before is to ride my motorcycle on a tour of lighthouses along the east coast. A picture is worth a thousand words. We hear it all the time. It can be especially helpful when communicating in our digital world to show a picture of something rather than typing it out. Or, maybe there is a certain point to be made by saving a portion of what is on the computer screen. Using the Windows Snip & Sketch application will help accomplish that. Good afternoon, these past few weeks have been an excellent respite for our Zebra families, but we are now ready to embrace the educational opportunities 2021 will bring. Tomorrow, Jan. 4th, classes will resume at their regularly scheduled time at all our sites. We will continue to implement our COVID protocols: wear a mask, watch our social distancing, and frequently wash hands . Please come prepared with the mask that was provided at the beginning of the year or a personal one. As we continue to mitigate the COVID-19 virus, we ask you, please stay home and contact your principal immediately if you have any of the following within the last week: 1. have been in direct contact with a COVID case, 2. had a positive test within the 10 days 3. are waiting on the results of a COVID test, or 4. are showing any symptoms. We look forward to the lightbulb moments, personal growth, and all our Zebras filling up the halls with the laughter, chatter, and smiles they bring with them.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Today marks the first day of a long holiday break. May you and your loved ones make the most of this time together during this Christmas season. I found these cute projects hanging outside our first grade classes. They told us what they wished would fall from the sky like snow. Money, hamburgers, Lamborghinis, and marshmallows. I also saw some kids were wanting cats, turtles, tables, candy and toys. What would you want to fall from the sky like snow??? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Claremore Public Schools will be closed due to inclimate weather tomorrow, Monday, December 14th. This is a SNOW DAY and not a Distance Learning Day. All activities scheduled for tomorrow are also CANCELLED except for the CPS Board of Education Meeting at 6:00 PM. Virtual meal distribution scheduled for Monday will be postponed until Tuesday. We will resume face-to-face classes Tuesday December 15. Be safe, stay warm, make a memory, and remember, It's Always A Great Day To Be A Zebra

This year has been different for us all to say the least. Catalayah staff has come together to create this cute picture that hangs in our hallway!!! Each staff member colored 1 square- separately it didn’t look like much but together it’s a masterpiece!!!! Together all the way!!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

**Staff Spotlight** PE Teacher, Mrs. Seidel I graduated from Catalina High School in Tucson Arizona. How about that? My high school and current school have similar names and both can mean "pure". I went to college at THE University of Arizona- Go Wildcats!! I have been teaching for 24 years, the last 10 years have been at Catalayah. I love seeing the reactions the kiddos have when they get excited or are proud of themselves. In my free time I enjoy running (of course), spending time with my family, watching the news (yikes), binge watching Netflix, listening to NPR and sometimes I will clean my house. Oh and I love going to Oregon and Northern California. My husband Ken and I have been married for 33 years. I have 1 grown son, 2 stepdaughters, and 5 grandchildren. 2 grands live here and 3 in Oregon. Ken is retired and his only job now is to take care of ME!!! If I could be any book character I would want to be Fern from Charlotte's Webb because I love this story about their friendship. One thing I want to do that I have never done before is travel the United States National Parks in an RV. Other fun facts about me- I once fell off a cliff and live to tell the story. Rode a bike up a mountain and climbed from 2600 feet to 9,000 feet. Ran into a bear, not literally, while riding a bike in Colorado. Hiked the Grand Canyon. Got lost in Paris getting off the airplane. My favorite quote is "Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will." Mahatma Gandhi The cool thing about Mrs. Seidel is she has had every kid that has ever went to Catalayah!! What are their favorite memories with Mrs. Seidel?? Share them with us! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
