If you haven't heard, Mrs. Rachel Fulks was nominated as our Claremont Site Teacher of the Year! We think that she is an incredible educator, and want you to get to know her better too!
"My greatest accomplishments in this job include connecting knowledge of other cultures and languages to our multicultural students to give them the richest education possible. And I still find myself thinking of how to reteach the things I have learned. Mentoring a new teacher this year is especially rewarding for me because I can witness the growth of our ELL program and also give back what has been given to me."
Give a round of applause in the comments for our Claremont Site Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Rachel Fulks!

4th grade students were assigned a pretty hefty research project over the States! Students were required to research their assigned state, write a report, create a brochure and a poster! Then students presented what they had learned about their state to their peers!

On this #wellnesswednesday, we want to stress the importance of keeping your students ACTIVE over Spring Break! Studies show that children thrive on routines. Though they wont be going to school, you can still create a predictable routine for you and your child over break!
Here are some ideas for keeping your child active!
- Go on a scavenger hunt
- Sign up for a spring break sports or fitness class
- Create a "what do do if you are bored" jar
- Go to the park
- Ride a bike
There are so many opportunities to enjoy your child over spring break! Don't forget to take advantage of them!

Students in Mrs. Bradfield's Kindergarten class play CVC Dominoes. CVC Dominoes is a fun enrichment activity to our phonics lesson for the day. Students had to read the CVC (consonant vowel consonant) word and find the matching picture creating a domino train.

Have you ever been Pied in the Face?
As a distance learning incentive, Mrs. Howell allowed three of her students - those who had completed all of their work and spent the most time participating in extra activities to stretch their brains - to pie her in the face.
As you can see, it was quite the incentive!

On this #wellnesswednesday, we want to encourage you to encourage imaginative play! Playing pretend has SO MANY benefits:
- it encourages language development and helps children to express themselves better.
- it increases social skills
- it helps develop critical thinking, problem solving, and thinking outside of the box
- it encourages creativitiy - helping children to learn to use their imagination and think abstractly
Encourage your child to stay little a little longer - and help them to rekindle the fun of imaginative play!
Tell us, what do your children like to pretend to be or do?

PJ day is our FAVORITE!!
Read Across America Week is a lot of fun, but what we really want to do is bring awareness to how important reading is to the success of our students!
Did you know, "Books contain many words that children are unlikely to encounter frequently in spoken language. Children’s books actually contain 50% more rare words than primetime television or even college students’ conversations." - The Read-Aloud Handbook, by Jim Trelease.

Pre-Kindergarten students learn a lot about school expectations during their year. One of the big things they work on all year is how to cooperate with each other to complete a task. These girls are working together to complete a puzzle!
