Mrs. Ramsey’s WIN group has been working on Autobiography “All About Me”. The students made a timeline of their life, family tree, picked character words and a quote that relate to their life. Students also made a crest about their life and presented in front of the group! Great job, Kids! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

"One of my most precious stories happened a few years ago. I was helping a kindergarten boy in my office. He looked around the decorated room (calming colors, bean bag chairs, toys, and stuffed animals) and I guess it looked like home to him. He very sweetly looked at a set of stuffed animals and said, "Are these the stuffed animals that keep you company when you go to sleep at night?". It is so sweet that children think we LIVE at school!" #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

"One of the aspects about being a school counselor that I like most is that every day is different! I check temperatures in the car rider line every morning, do lessons throughout the day, attend meetings with parents and teachers, meet with students individually, and provide resources to parents ALL IN ONE DAY! It is truly a joy to stay busy and meet the needs of our Claremont children, families, and staff." #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Today is World Read Aloud Day! Reading aloud is so important - "Children acquire language primarily through listening. Reading aloud lets children regularly hear new words in new contexts, which builds their vocabulary and helps them develop a stronger awareness of the communicative possibilities of language." #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

For more information on supporting your child's mental health, contact your child's teacher or school counselor.

"Recently I discovered there's actually a name for the counseling approach I most closely follow. It's called bibliotherapy. Bibliotherapy involves using literature to teach and help others practice various skills. Reading to children is one of my favorite things, and I love using books in my lessons! The Claremore Public Schools Foundation awarded a grant for me to use at Claremont. I am purchasing some of my favorite titles to use with bibliotherapy!" #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
