Last weekend, Colonel John Rahe and his wife, our very own Mrs. Rahe, attended the United States Marine Corps Ball. This special event took place just before Veterans Day! Colonel Rahe has served 30 years with the USMC as a Naval aviator, flying AV-8B Harriers. Today, you’ll find him at Claremore High School, serving as the Senior Naval Science Instructor for Navy JROTC. Thank you, Colonel Rahe for your service, sacrifice and continued inspiration to our Claremore students. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Chef Ryan joined us for lunch today to share information about dragon fruit! Students had the opportunity to see the fruit up close and even try it. Thank you, Chef Ryan, for helping us learn something new! Dragon fruit is a tropical fruit that grows on the Hylocereus cactus, otherwise known as the Honolulu Queen. Other common names for dragon fruit include pitaya and strawberry pear. Dragon fruit, which is considered a "superfood," is known for its high nutrient content, along with potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Some research indicates eating this exotic pink or red fruit may potentially reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Today is Veterans Day, so we will take a moment to thank those who have served our country and sacrificed so much. Sergeant John Ihle served seven years of active duty in the United States Army. During his time in the Army, he was deployed to Pakistan in 2010 and then to Afghanistan from 2011 to 2012. He now resides here in Claremore with his wife, Katie, and their two children. Many of you know Mrs. Ihle as one of our 3rd-grade teachers, and John is our PTO President. We are thankful to him and his family for their sacrifice and service to our country. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Claremont Salutes Our Veterans! Staff Sergeant Logan Sadd and Technical Sergeant Breanna Sadd are Claremont parents who proudly serve in the United States Air Force. They enlisted together in January 2018 at the age of 20 and have spent nearly seven years serving our country. Staff Sergeant Logan Sadd was deployed to Savannah, Georgia, in 2020 in support of Operation Noble Eagle, which supports the President of the United States. Technical Sergeant Breanna Sadd was deployed to Saudi Arabia in 2023 as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. The Sadd family shares that they are fortunate to have had one parent at home with their son, Leo, during each deployment. Zebra Family, The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Please be assured that CPS is closely monitoring the weather forecast. All sites have reviewed our safety protocols. We understand that parents/guardians may want to pick up their children through the proper channels. If you choose to do so, this will be an excused absence. However, we do not want to send children home without supervision; therefore, our buses will not run early. If the weather changes and we must delay the buses, we will notify you as soon as possible through the CPS Mobile App and the Stopfinder App.
