What do you get when you mix water with an antacid?
*an explosion!*
4th grade students in Mrs. Harrison's class participated in a rocket building experiment, where they learned what happens when h20 and an antacid mix! This combination creates a chemical reaction that releases carbon dioxide. The gas fills the tube, air pressure builds, and the rocket launches!

5th Graders in Ms. Myers class work together on a teambuilding activity. The objective: using only paperclips, get "tom" into a life vest and back into the boat. This was a great STEM activity to get students thinking outside of the box and about how they can work together to achieve their goal.

REMINDER - In honor of the Labor Day holiday, CPS will be closed on Monday, September 5th.
"Before the reward, there must be labor. You plant before you harvest. You sow in tears before you reap joy." Ralph Ransom
Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894. This weekend, as we spend time with our families and friends, celebrate the value of an honest day's work, the people who built America, and our nation's advancements because of the American labor force.

3rd graders learned the POWER of reading with a catapult building activity! Students were given everything they needed to build a catapult except for directions! The only rule: they had to use every piece given. After a few minutes of trying to figure it out on their own, Mrs. Millsap gave them the instructions - which told them how to build the catapult - showing how POWERFUL reading can be in our lives!
