Mrs. McCaw's class made learning fun with flashlight reading. Students were able to explore a new story in a quiet space. We love to see Westside students picking up a good book. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The rain should move on for us to have Running Club this afternoon.

Fifth grade students took a field trip to see an interactive Tulsa Symphony concert. The concert is titled Link Up and offers so many cool experiences. The orchestra moves and includes Tulsa Opera singers, dancers, vocalists from the University of Tulsa, and of course, the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra! Students got the chance to sing and interact with the musicians and dancers during the one hour concert. It was an amazing time! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. McGill's fifth grade students show that they are leaders both socially and academically by writing essays. Their topic is over bullying prevention and is five or more paragraphs long. These Westies are such incredible leaders and will soon be representing as Jr. High students! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Our friends from Sodexo came by with great news. Fourth grade Westside student, Gunner, has been selected in the regional cooking competition. Gunner will be cooking live this week and will be making a delicious street corn stuffed mushrooms with pineapple chutney. Great Gunner and good luck! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

It's time to record a new chapter in our Spring Break Edition of our #ZebraTravelDiaries. If you are going on a vacation or staycation, remember to wear your zebra gear and take a photo for our #ZebraTravelDiaries. Remember Spring Break begins on FRIDAY, March 10th, this year. All CPS offices and campuses will be closed from Friday, March 10th through Friday, March 17th. Relax - read a book…for fun, play a board game, put together a puzzle, paint a picture, have a family meal; whatever you do MAKE A MEMORY. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

These clever characters displayed their spirit by dressing up during Read Across America Week! Everyone looked so amazing dressed as their favorite book or film character. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Westside students and staff represented their favorite team for the dress-up day in honor of Read Across America Week. Tell us your favorite sports team! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Our wonderful librarian, Ms. Lang, is book charting with Westies building wide. Ms. Lang introduces various Dr. Suess books during Read Across America Week. Students then put it to a vote and decide on their favorite story. So far Green Eggs and Ham has a decent lead. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Frost’s class went to read with their Westie besties, Mrs. Books class, today for Read Across America Week. This collaboration is important to students young and old. Great job, Westie Besties! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Ratcliff recently announced there is a National Tortilla Chip Day. That's a national holiday most of us can get behind! Mrs. Thomason’s students were the lucky winners of tasty chips and salsa. Thank you to El Azteca for donating for our big winners! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Westside GT classes recently held their first spirit button sale. The students created a button production business plan in order to raise money for their activities and donate a portion back to Westside. Today, $64 was presented to Mrs. Hinds as the initial donation. A second button sale will take place for Kdg-5th grades next week on March 1st, 2nd, and 3rd during the final half hour of each day. Buttons, which include designs such as kindness and encouragement, sports, hobbies, music, and holidays, are $1 each.

The Oklahoma Caring Van will provide FREE immunizations for children at the Claremore enrollment center March 21st & 23rd from 10a - 12p. A parent/guardian must complete the required paperwork. Services will be provided to children who are uninsured, Medicaid eligible, or American Indian. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

At Westside, learning takes place in a variety of ways. Students have the opportunity to grow with different activities utilizing various resources, strategies, and guidance from our amazing staff. Westside students are so hard working and continue to display their knowledge and skills. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Westside loves our Safety Patrol and the assistance they provide daily. These 5th grade students monitor and help throughout the building. Their guidance and support help both students and staff. Thank you for the continued effort and representing Westside! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Fourth grade students modeled incredible teamwork while researching natural disasters.Not only did they work together to research, but they also created a script to report their findings in a newscast format. Ms. Palmer filmed their broadcasts as they presented. Check out their fascinating projects! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
