We're down to just a few days until Family Fun Night! This event is a huge fundraiser for Westside Elementary and is hosted by our PTO team. There will also be concession stands available, the menu is shown here.
A few reminders for our families:
‼ Wristbands- send money with your student in an envelope noted "FFN wristband" with the quantity you would like to purchase. They are $15 now or $20 at the door.
‼ Pop for pizza- pre-k through second grade, send canned soda. 3rd-5th, send 2 liters. The grade with the most will win a pizza party!
‼ Raffle Tickets- sell, sell, sell! The top students will win a prize (Nintendo Switch, Crazy Cart, or a Drone)
Ice Cream Wednesday's are back next week (4/2)!
A couple reminders: for the rest of the year, they will be every other Wednesday & ice cream is $1. Students can pay $1 cash or choose to use their lunch account.

One of Westside's student teachers, Mrs. Webster lead a lesson on writing biographies. 📝
Students were given guided questions & suggestions for their partners, then they wrote a mini biography about their 5th grade partner.
Mrs. Eckert’s kindergarten class read The Butter Battle Book by Dr. suess in celebration of Read Across America week!
Students got to create their own butter using heaving whipping cream & shaking it. They then added it to their bread to enjoy a delicious treat they made! 🍞

The JOM parent meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 27, at 5:45 p.m. has been rescheduled for April 3rd at 5:45 p.m.
Channel 6 had another special guest for students during Read Across America Week. Meteorologist Stacia Night, invited by Westside's librarian, Ms. Lang, read to 5th graders about weather!
Pop for Pizza! 🍕🍕
It is that time of year again- students will be competing for a pizza party and all they have to do is bring soda. The grade that brings the most soda will win a pizza party! All contributions will go to our upcoming family fun night.
Starting March 14th, students in grades Pre-K to 2nd bring cases of canned soda & 3rd-5th grades bring 2-liter bottles!

"Today we went on a hunt for circles! We went around out entire school to measure the circles' diameters & used pi to find their circumference! Happy Pi Day!"
5th grade students had the opportunity to go to the Link Up Concert at the Owasso Performing Arts Center with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra! They had a great time performing and dancing to swing music! 🎶🎶🎶

1st graders in Mrs. Books class are rocking their phonics lessons! They're working hard to identify long & short vowel sounds- building strong reading skills one sound at a time! 🔤👏🏻

Spring Break has come to an end & we can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!
5th graders in Mrs. Hink's class are studying King George the Third. She says:
"No taxation without representation candy simulation: my green table is my parliament (they don't pay taxes), I have 2 students going around collecting my skittle taxes. And everyone else is a colonist, and are being taxed by the teacher (King George the 3rd). This gives the students and ideas of what it was like to be a colonist and why they became so angry with King George and the meaning behind 'No taxation without representation'"
Ms. Nicks & her 3rd graders are working on 3 different skills in math. Have you ever heard of the Butterfly Effect method? 🦋
