Running club is cancelled this Wednesday 4/24. 🚫
Last day for running club is next Wednesday May 1st. 🥇 🏃 🏃♀️

In Mrs. James' computer class, 4th graders are diving into science and technology by using just paper, tape, and a whole lot of creativity. They're crafting intricate marble runs from scratch! 📐✂️f
It's not all smooth sailing though – these marble runs take tons of patience, and plenty of trial and error, before they're ready to roll! 🔄💡

🌞🚰 Hey Westside families!
As temperatures rise, remember to keep hydrated! 💧💦 Whether it's recess or after-school activities, don't forget to pack those water bottles! Stay cool, stay hydrated, and have a fantastic day! 🌞🚰

🎓 Ms. McGill's 5th graders are turning test prep into a fun game of Jeopardy! 🎉

Last week we celebrated the solar eclipse as a school. Many of our classes took the opportunity to learn about space and the solar system! Check out these "space-tastic" students and their space shirts! 🛸🔭🚀🌟

We know the importance of state testing.
Go be your very best.
But remember, YOU are more than a test score. You've got this. ❤️🦓💪🏽

Ms. Lang and 5th grade Book Club just started reading "Nugly" by M.C. Ross. 📚

Our first graders are learning about life cycles with caterpillars and chicken eggs! 🐛🥚
Their classrooms have incubators set up for the chicken eggs, and a habitat for the caterpillars.
Stay tuned for photos when butterflies and chicks emerge! 🦋🥚

Family Fun Night is right around the corner and we need your help collecting soda to be used on this eventful evening! 🥤
We're going to have a contest among all grade levels, and whichever grade brings the most will win a pizza party! 🍕🎉
Pre-K-2nd bring cases of canned soda. 📦
3rd-5th bring bottles of soda.

🚀 Blast off to outer space with Pre-K! 🌌
Our little explorers have been having a stellar time diving into space-themed sensory bins, constructing rockets with counting blocks, and engaging in other cosmic activities that are out of this world! 🌟 🪐

Westside Elementary's 3rd and 5th grade GT students took on the 3-2-1 Plank Challenge and blew us away with their creativity and ingenuity! 🚀 🌟🏗️
Using Keva planks, these budding engineers aimed for the skies as they built towering structures with only 3 planks as their base. 🏗️ They meticulously measured and recorded their progress, pushing the limits of their designs. The challenge didn't stop there! They then tackled structures with 2 planks and even just a single plank, showcasing a wide array of approaches from height-focused to design-driven. 🎨✨

Last week, these 4th graders in Coach Faulconer's physical education class played 'Hula Hut Throwdown'!
The objective was simple yet thrilling: to keep the most hula huts standing tall when the timer chimed. How did they do it? By aiming for success! 🎯 Baskets were strategically positioned around the gym, each one a chance for students to score big. 🏀 With every successful shot, they earned a hula hoop! 🌀
It was more than just a game; it was a lesson in teamwork, coordination, and good old-fashioned fun! 💪

As the state testing season approaches, our PTO here at Westside wants to remind our students that they've got this! 💪 To give you an extra boost of energy and support, our PTO will be generously providing snacks during testing days. We believe in you, and we know you'll shine bright!
Parents, remind your students that success starts with taking care of yourself. Stay hydrated, get enough sleep, and don't forget to eat a nutritious breakfast each morning. Their well-being is just as important as their academic success. You've prepared diligently, now go show the world what you're made of! 🚀

Getting ready for the solar eclipse with style! ☀️🌑
Ms. Pilant's kindergarten class crafted these adorable sun masks for their eclipse glasses to watch the sun show last week. 🌞👓

Snack cart available tomorrow, Friday April 12th!

Ms. Johnson's 4th grade class embraced the sunshine by taking their schoolwork outside. Learning under the open sky, they enjoyed the fresh air while diving into their studies. What a great way to make the most of the nice weather! 🌞📚

We had a blast at Chick-Fil-A Tuesday evening for Spirit Night! 🐄🦓
A huge thank you to Claremore Chick-Fil-A for teaming up with our school and to everyone who joined us to show their support! 🌟 Your presence made the night even more special! 🎉

There will be NO running club today, April 10th due to predicted weather.
