We popped in music before break and found Mr. Levesque & 5th graders using bucket drums to practice meter, tempo, beats & rhythmic accuracy. We are so grateful for the musical experiences our Westies are getting! Walking to the beat of our own drum at Westside! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE 🎶🥁🦓🎶

Mystery Readers were bringing their A game before break! 📚🦓🙌🏽 Moms, dads, teachers, staff, principals & even Mr. Frazier - our superintendent, all came to 1st grade to be Mystery Readers & read to our students! Thank you to those who volunteered their time to bring all the voices, stories & fun to our 1st grade Westies!! You could simply feel the pride from the kids. ❤️ Working side by side for our students - we are simply stronger together! 💪🏽🦓 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

These wonderful kindergarteners helped the Grinch grow his heart by being kind and helpful to others. One of our GE Great Expectations is, "We will help one another whenever possible." They did an excellent job in defining this expectation!!! 🦓❤️🥰 #THROWKINDNESSAROUNDLIKECONFETTI #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

STEM Club was working on predicting, measuring & creating some pretty exciting chemical reactions! Students began by measuring out & working baking powder into a deflated balloon. They then poured vinegar into a bottle. With their partners, students attached the deflated baking powder balloon to the vinegar bottle & the scientist saw chemical reactions at work! The chemical reactions began inflating the balloons - all different sizes depending on measurements. 🦓🧑🏻‍🔬🎈👩🏽‍🔬🎈👨🏼‍🔬🎈🧑🏾‍🔬 Super cool experiment! Great work STEM Club!! Ms. Palmer's awesome third graders learned different multiplication games using cards! The social aspect of these games encourages teamwork and communication while reinforcing multiplication skills. Learning through play not only adds an element of fun to education but also enhances retention and understanding, turning a potentially dull task into an effective learning experience! 🦓✖️❤️➗😊➖📚➕ #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Reindeer day and Mystery Readers; it was a good day in Mrs. Sander's first grade class!! Please keep reading each day with your child as it enhances their language development and literacy skills. The shared experience of reading together fosters a strong parent-child bond, promoting emotional connection and a sense of security. Additionally, it cultivates a love for learning, expands vocabulary, and stimulates imagination, laying a solid foundation for academic success in the future!! They have made great gains and need to keep up their progress. Thank you parents!!🦓❤️📖 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Westside 2nd graders are officially published authors. The whole second grade worked very hard on writing & publishing class books. 📝 Students learned about different writing styles, created their first draft, made edits with guidance from their teachers, wrote final drafts & even illustrated their work! Wow, what a process!! What an incredible project!! Great work 2nd grade, what an awesome result to lots of hard work!! 🦓💪🏽❤️📚 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

While playing on the playground, one of our westie besties found a heart-shaped rock! Much like kindness, this rock is a simple yet powerful discovery that brightens one's day. Just as stumbling upon the rock brings a smile, acts of kindness can uplift and leave a lasting impression. Both serve as reminders that even the smallest gestures can shape moments and hearts in meaningful ways, creating a ripple effect of positivity. #ThrowKindnessAroundLikeConfetti #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
