It's a doubles race! First grade students practiced their addition automaticity by learning a doubles rap and using their dice to quickly solve equations. These Westies are doing an incredible job in the classroom!

It's almost time for our amazing Westside Craft Bazaar!
The Westside t-shirt design competition is one of our exciting annual events! Westies completed their entries in art class under the guidance of Mr. McClurg. Without viewing names PTO selected their finalists out of 500 entries! The selections were narrowed down to 13 choices. With a one vote difference the winner was selected. They received a king size candy bar and the 1st place design will be created into our school shirt design. Please help us celebrate our winners!

It's National Custodian Appreciation Day! We want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our custodial staff for the extraordinary job they do in taking care of our building. Our custodians play an integral role in making sure the school operates smoothly. Mrs. Summer and Mrs. Michelle are a huge part of the Westside Family. They are often the first faces seen in the morning and some of the last as students leave for the day. Thank you so much for all you do!

The Claremore Indian Education Committee(IEC) will have a special meeting on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 6-6:30 p.m. at the Enrollment Center at 101 West 11th. The meeting will be held to hold the JOM Annual Election.
To serve on the JOM IEC, a person must be the parent or guardian of a JOM-verified child. School board members or spouses, school administrators or spouses, and school employees or spouses can not serve on the committee.
Any parent, community member, or other interested may attend the meeting.

Westside Elementary is excited to announce that our annual fall fundraiser starts today! Information regarding the fundraiser was sent home with students this afternoon. Students who register online at www.ShopFund.com and share their fundraiser will automatically receive a prize just for doing so. Also, sell two items tonight and win DOUBLE DAWGZ. More prize information will be shared during Rise and Shine throughout the week. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year! We thank you for your support! It's a great day to be a ZEBRA!
Arrrgh it was a great week in Mrs. Sweet's 2nd grade class. Monday was International Talk Like a Pirate Day! The students learned pirate phrases and worked their way through 10 reading and math challenges on a treasure map.
