Mrs. Book is teaching her amazing first graders all about word problems. Today they used people, numbers, and animals to create our own word problems. Adding that personal touch to math makes is much more fun! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year is now open! All families must complete enrollment every year. Enrollment may be completed entirely online, and we recommend using a desktop or laptop computer to enroll. If you do not have access to a computer, or if you need enrollment assistance, the CPS Enrollment Center has computers and scanners available and will be happy to help. They are open daily from 8a - 4p (arrive by 3:30p). Mr. McClurg is working with third grade students on creating beautiful pottery! These Westies are utilizing tools to add their intricate designs on the clay. We can't wait to see how these turn out! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Ms. Barlow provides many tools to assist with learning. Her students especially love guided reading strips! These tools assist by focusing on the specific lines of the text that are being read. We are so appreciative of Ms. Barlow and her impact throughout the building. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Hink's fifth grade students recently simulated how the colonists felt about the taxes King George III put on the colonists. Mrs. Hink placed taxes on things that went along with the tea act, sugar act, quartering act, and stamp act to fit the set up in a modern day classroom. They also participated in a mini readers theater beforehand. This helped students understand the frustrations the colonists were feeling. This looks like a lesson they'll never forget. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Join us in our biggest school event of the year!

A veterinary pet hospital recently opened in Mrs. Sweet's class! These 3rd grade veterinarians worked so hard on each of their pet cases. Students completed a reading and math activity, with each case. They practiced reading skills and solved multi-step word problems, with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division! Of course they had to walk their dogs at the end of the day. 🐩 🐕 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Whitaker's pre-k students have been making observations and checking the progress of their caterpillars. They're currently making webs, and will soon show these sweet young Westsiders all about the the life cycle of butterflies.🐛🦋 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Westside provides a fun environment for learning, but it's also a place to make memories and form bonds that can last a lifetime. Fifth grade student London recognizes her former teacher, Mrs. Cummings. Both of these wonderful individuals are an example of the powerful culture within our building. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

First and second grade students recently traveled to the Robson Performing Arts Center to experience the talented Tulsa Opera. For many students this was their first time experiencing live opera music. Tulsa's talent performed Space Encounters with fun audience participation. Big shout out to Mrs. Gaylord and the Tulsa Opera for spreading love for the musical arts, and making big things happen at Claremore Schools! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Westside 5th graders participated in their first book club meeting led by our amazing librarian, Ms. Lang! They are currently reading the mystery, The Secret Starling.
