📚 THANK YOUR LIBRARIAN TODAY 📚
“A library is a good place to go when you feel unhappy, for there, in a book, you may find encouragement and comfort. A library is a good place to go when you feel bewildered or undecided, for there, in a book, you may have your question answered. Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people - people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book." [Letters of Note; Troy (MI, USA) Public Library, 1971]
― E.B. White
It's National Library Workers Day and we can't think of any better way to celebrate than to visit your school librarian and check out a book. I know they will have a recommendation for whatever you want to feel between the pages of a good book.
THANK YOU!!!

This Friday's funny comes from the third-grade hall!
Student: Hey, Mrs. Campbell guess what I'm gonna be when I grow up?!
Student: What's that?
Student: I'm going to go play football at OU and then I'm going to go work in that Dorito factory because they need help. They need help filling those bags all the way to the top!!
*Insert Mrs. Campbell laughing hysterically here.* 😂

Our 4th graders are recognizing each other for their good behaviors and good deeds! Similar to the Hero Wall, Mrs. Palmer has a wall in her classroom where her students can recognize each other and their teachers! We love to see our students acknowledging and encouraging each other. Keep up the fabulous work 4th grade!

During Read Across America week, Mrs. McCaw's first grade class had some guest readers from our building! Ms. Pilant, Mrs. Heatherly, and Mrs. Hinds stopped by and read some good books! The students were so excited and loved having visitors in their room. They were respectful, interested, and engaged! Great job to all involved ❤

As we closed out our winter chapter and students came back from spring break, a favorite decoration came down to make room for something new!
Mrs. James, the Computers teacher, worked with her students on WordArt.com to create snowflakes and winter art. The result was a winter wonderland!
Additionally, ALL students and staff were asked to make a SNOWBALL WISH for 2022. The wish was for ANYTHING their hearts desired. Our 2nd graders understood the assignment! They made wish after wish, 90% of those wishes were for SNOW!! (From our winter weather this past season it seems their wishes came true! 😉)
A favorite part of the winter wonderland is when the students walk through the hall; the snowflakes hanging from the ceiling begin to flutter and dance!
Mrs. James has determined for the Spring theme she will stick with flowers and sunshine (no tornadoes)!!

This Friday Funny is being served with a side of cute 😉
For TWOSDAY (02/22/2022) our students celebrated by participating in a dress-up day! We could twin with a friend, wear ties, or tutus! These two clever First Graders told their teacher, "We don't have to do anything. We're already twins!" 😂❤

We love the dreams some of our friends in Mrs. Whitaker's class had while learning about Martin Luther King Jr.! The class discussed what their dreams were and how they could those dreams happen. These students put their heart into their work. Fabulous job, friends! ❤

Just look at this Hero Wall! Our students came back from our "Ice Break" ready to change the world! Kindness, compassion, and caring have been on the top of their to-do lists by the looks of this wall! We are constantly impressed and inspired by our students. It's a great day to be a Zebra! ❤

Students at Westside celebrated Black History month in many different ways, but one of our favorites just might be the decorations celebrating the diversity in our school/community. Students filled the halls with handcrafted work that connected to deep thinking lessons. They hung quotes from historical figures, celebrated them, and discussed the meaning behind their words. We are proud of our students and teachers! It's a great day to be a Zebra! ❤
