Superior Land Designs, based out of Georgia, wanted to give back to the communities of their employees through a matched donation pool. Westside received $2,500 to help give students a special holiday! This generous gift purchased 50 new pairs of shoes for many students. In addition to shoes, the company sponsored Christmas gifts for some students and Christmas meals for others. Another anonymous donor then sponsored 10 more meals for students and their families this season.
Westside Counselor, Mrs. Lyons shared, "The smiles on their faces this week were heartwarming as I cut off the tags of these BRAND NEW SHOES. Every single one wore them proudly down the hallways back to their classrooms. Many stopped others in the hallways to show them off."
The holiday spirit is alive at Westside! Huge thank you to Superior Land Designs and the anonymous donor for the inspiring generosity!

We are currently taking clothing donations. Our school closet is running very low. We appreciate any assistance with this need. Thank you!

Holiday preparations and celebrations continue as Westsiders push closer to Winter Break. Dress-up day participants have blown us all away with homemade sweaters, comfy pj's, and cool character costumes. We hope everyone is enjoying the season as much as we are!

Some of us have had individuals in our lives who look out for us or try to make our days brighter. For Westside's staff, one of our supporters is Mr. Don McGuire. This gentleman has brought donuts for teachers on multiple occasions and always has words of encouragement. He gives so selflessly and makes more of a difference in the lives around him than he knows. We are always so grateful for our community and want to recognize this kind soul for his continued support.

As Westside wraps up National Native American Heritage Month, we have to share how our amazing third graders honored tribal heritage. Each student was assigned a Native American tribe to research. Students needed to write a paper, create a visual aid, and present the research to their class. Westies from other grades came to visit and learn about various cultures and traditions.
