Superposition...its definition is exactly what it sounds like. The rock formations on the Earth start with a base layer which holds the younger sedimentary rock layers. In Mrs. Hammack's class, students are studying the Law of Superposition. They made rock layers with smashed jolly ranchers. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Rahn’s class has been studying our Star (the sun) and the upcoming Annular Eclipse. On Saturday, October 14th, between 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM, Oklahoma will be able to see 78% of the Annular Eclipse. Peak will be at 11:51 AM. Students made their own solar eclipse pinhole viewers for the eclipse and tried to view sunspots on the Sun Spotter. An Annular Eclipse is when the moon does not cover the entire disc of the sun, so that a ring of sunlight surrounds the shadow of the moon. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

How do you get to know your community? You go on field trips! Mrs. Esau's class is taking community field trips this year. One of the first trips was to the Will Rogers library. The students enjoyed looking at their great variety of books. Afterwards, the students were able to compare/contrast the public library vs. the WRJH library. Although the staff at the public library is wonderful, we are still partial to our school librarian, Mrs. Eddings! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
