Are you a left brain thinker or a right brain thinker? Mrs. Hulse's 6th grade English students are finding out if they are more left brain or right brain thinkers! They have a quiz and then color in a picture of a brain. After they have figured it out, they will read about some characteristics of left and right brain thinkers!

My life in numbers! Ms. Phariss' classes are completing an activity called my life in numbers. Students get to know each other by measuring each others height, learning how many letters are in their name and how many vowels. They learn how many siblings they have and many other "number" things!
Ms. Phariss can't wait to see how much her 7th graders will grow this year!

CPS will be closed on Monday, September 4th, in honor of the Labor Day holiday.
Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894. This weekend, as we spend time with our families and friends, celebrate the value of an honest day’s work, the people who built America, and our nation’s advancements because of the American labor force.

Do you know how to start a conversation with someone you just met? How do you introduce yourself to a new friend? Students in Mrs. Hulse's class played a dice game in order to learn more about each other! They roll the dice and answer the questions that match.
What a fun ice breaker!

‼ REMINDER - EARLY RELEASE = PLC MEETINGS FOR TEACHERS
📅 Begins August 25th
Dismissal
🕑Elementary- 2:00p
🕝Secondary - 2:30p
Early release for our kids means meeting time for our teachers. This time is excellent for lesson planning, district meetings, and sharing ideas with our teacher friends across the district.
Professional learning communities (PLCs) are a collaborative approach to professional development. Small groups of educators meet regularly to explore new concepts, share expertise and insights from their teaching experiences, and engage in collective problem-solving.
We are lucky we have this time and the technology to meet with teachers from all over the district to maximize our time together.

What do you do on the first day of school? In Ms. O's class, 6th graders learned all about problem solving by building marshmallow towers. I'm sure none were "accidentally" knocked down and eaten!
