Our Native American Club took advantage of the nice weather yesterday and went outside to play Game of Graces.
Graces is played with two people. Each person gets two dowel rods. Then, one of the players takes a wooden hoop and, pulling apart the two rods, sends the hoop into the air for the other player to try to catch. The winner is the player who is first to catch the hoop ten times.
The game of graces was a popular activity for young girls during the early 1800s. The game was invented in France during the first quarter of the 19th century and called le jeu des graces.[1] The game of graces was considered a proper game – one befitting young ladies and, supposedly, one that would make them more graceful.
Graces was hardly ever played by Boys, and never played by two boys at the same time; the players were always either two girls, or a boy and a girl.

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race is one of Alaska's iconic winter events, and the excitement traditionally starts in Anchorage on the first Saturday of March each year.
Mrs. Wallis’ 2nd grade class read about it and also wrote little reports about it. I learned so much reading these.

🚌💛 Bus Drivers 💛🚌
We have enjoyed celebrating our Bus Drivers this week!!! We were even able to take lunch to the guys in charge of it all yesterday. They deserve so much more!!! We are very thankful for the amazing team and leaders we have in our transportation dept!!! These kids will always remember how special their bus drivers are!!
Here is what some of our teachers had to say about their bus drivers when they were kids!
Mrs. Ritter,
Spencer and Mr. Eisenhower! They just always made you feel like you were special. Loved my bus drivers!
Mrs. Bonham
My bus driver was my dad! He actually let me ride his route with him. My favorite memory is always sitting in the seat right behind him. He would look in the big mirror and wink at me!
Mrs. McComb
I remember Mrs. Baldridge... She was an elementary teacher and bus driver! She had a thick, long blonde braid all the way down her back. I always wondered if she accidentally sat on it sometimes because it was so long! She was so kind to all of the students. I think she was the one who would stop at the tiny convenience store in the middle of nowhere (Washington Store???) to let us get giant pop-ice on really hot days!
Mrs. Salcido
I remember my bus driver Chuck, he would talk like Donald Duck. We all thought he was so funny!!
