Mrs. Mannā€™s 2nd grade class learned about Amelia Earhart during Womenā€™s History Month. They learned about how she set records and defied boundaries placed on women at that time. In honor of her bravery they created airplanes using science standards to help make the best possible planes! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

JaNaWhite - Zebra Stripes Director #ROOSASTAFFSPOTLIGHT I attended Robert E Lee High School in Midland, Texas and Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. This is my 11th year at Claremore Public Schools and my 9th year at Roosa Elementary. My husband and I have been married for 33 years. We have 4 adult children and 1 grandson. We have a horse named Peso and 5 doggies: Ollie, Ketch, Ruby, Ebony and Baby. I chose to work in public education because I felt like it was something I could do to make a difference in the world. One of my favorite things to see when a child begins to have self-confidence and really believes that they can do anything that they put their minds to do. My greatest inspiration were my grandparents. They weren't perfect, but they taught me to work hard and to be strong. Most of all, they showed me how to believe the best about people. My favorite Quote is "What has been, I cannot change - but for tomorrow and today, I must be a light for future generations". - Mark Harris.

5th grade has been learning about the Energy in Food they eat. Did you know that children between the ages of 10 and 12 need a minimum of 2,200 Calories each day? Students looked at the calories and the nutritional value of different foods. Some students were shocked at how many calories were in their favorite sodas compared to the food they consume for energy. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Devers - 2nd grade teacher #ROOSASTAFFSPOTLIGHT - I went to college at Cameron University. This is my 11th year at Roosa. I am married to Dustin and we have a sweet two year old boy named Luke. We have two cats, two horses, a dog and a turtle. I chose to become a teacher because I want all children to have a loving environment where they are cared for and have the chance to learn and succeed to their fullest potential. I want to make a difference in the life of every child who comes to my classroom. I enjoy building relationships with my students and experiencing their growth alongside them. The other teachers I teach with at Roosa are such inspirations to me! They continually put children first and are fully committed to providing quality education in a loving environment. My favorite quote: ā€œRejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances; for this is Godā€™s will for you in Christ Jesusā€ - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Students tried to guess the Mystery Reader of the day. Prizes were books to keep for their personal library. Here are a few of the daily winners! #READACROSSAMERICA #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

One of my favorite 3D designs! Roosa 5th grader, Heidi Hawley, designed a 3D replica of the Nintendo Switch in TinkerCad. Once Heidi completed her design, it was uploaded to a 3D slicer and then printed using our Innovation Labā€™s 3D printer. Her design took approximately 2 hours to print. Excellent attention to detail, Heidi! -Ms. Cardwell, Roosa STEM Teacher #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

4th grade asked the question How does a windmill capture wind energy? The students designed and built a device that uses wind energy to rotate. They built windmills! Students drew and cut out fan blades, secured the blades and attached it to a straw. The pin was adjusted so the blades could spin freely. A windmill that captures energy was created! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

March is Music in our Schools Month and the Roosa Music room beamed with creativity! Students used Chrome Music Lab Song Maker to compose their own songs. They were given a chord progression to modify and then told to create their own melody to add to it. Music can make you smarter, help you relax and musical education increases college acceptance rates.
