To show grit, one must have courage and resolve while displaying a true strength of character. The Elks Lodge Hoop Shoot has been encouraging and unleashing that grit for over 50 years and recently, some Roosa students showed up and showed their grit! Our friends, Thomas and Lilly, spent their Saturday morning shooting free throws against students from schools all around us. Showing focus and determination, Lilly walked away with 3rd place in the girls, 10-11 division, and Thomas came away with 1st place for boys 8-9! In January, Thomas will be representing both Roosa and the Claremore Elks Lodge in Coweta and we'll be cheering him along the way! Who's got the best PTO around? That's right! WE DO!!! One of the amazing prizes up for auction at our Fall Carnival was to have a book read by the one and only Tess Maune of News on 6! Today she visited Mrs. Mann's class on behalf of the prizewinner, the lovely Miss Kora, and read about how Pout Pout Fish learned that the biggest, brightest, perfectest gifts come from the heart! They had the most meaning, gave the most delight, and even had a bit of bling-zing! Our first week of donations has started off strong! 530 cans is huge, give yourselves a pat on the back! For K-2nd, Mrs. Mann's class is leading the pack, and for 3rd-5th, Mrs. Kropp's is out in front! Last year we were able to donate over 5,000 cans all because of your help - let's see if we can beat that this year! Claremore's annual Christmas parade is coming soon! We can't wait to see the town lining Will Rogers Blvd on Saturday, December 9th at 6:00pm, to enjoy the twinkling lights, magical Christmas melodies, and general merriment, but don't forget our favorite part: our very own Roosa Royalty! Due to the large number of students who were caught displaying great character, it was decided that instead of one boy and one girl representing the whole school - we would nominate a boy and girl from each grade! Second grade, second grade, WHOOOO do you see? "I see a barn owl looking at ME!" A few very knowledgeable friends from the Tulsa Zoo stopped by and spent some time with second grade. Students were absolutely captivated by the lessons on animal coats and camouflaging, but the real thrill was when their little barn owl friend made an appearance! Roosa, the holiday season is upon us, and we need your help! For the second year in a row, we have teamed up with Share the Spirit here in Rogers County to help serve our community. Here's where we need you: between today and December 16th, we need you to bring canned corn and green beans. Cans will be collected and tallied daily, and the winners will be announced at Rise and Shine, December 17th. The top classes from PreK-2nd and from 3rd-5th will earn an ice cream sandwich party and extra recess!! #SharetheSpirit #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We are so very thankful for our SROs! School Resource Officers are so valuable and, while we don't like to play favorites, we know that Roosa's got the best one out there! In addition to traditional, expected officer duties, resource officers help to accquaint students who might be unfamiliar to the police in our community. By being present, Officer Hagen shows how helpful and appoachable our men and women in uniform really are, which can ease a lot of young minds! Ahoy, Seadogs and Landlubbers alike and shiver me timbers! Third and Fourth grade are looking good up there on stage! Paging Mrs. Peters' class to the OR, STAT! 3rd grade performed some major exploratory surgeries and discovered the text feature each patient needed, in order to lead-or should I say READ a good story and appreciate every detail available! All "patients" were expertly patched up and matched with the proper feature.
