Last Spring, Ms. Lang received a grant from Casey's for $5,000. She just received the books that she purchased with that grant for Westside's school library! 📚📚
Ms. Lang said "I am so excited to get them out on the shelves for the kiddos!"
Westside third graders have been studying Native American history and are currently working on their own projects studying the history of different tribes.
Ms. Palmer shared her heritage and knowledge of Native Americans in a wonderful presentation for all of the third grade wing. She shared dances, clothing, and the different expectations of the Native American people during their dances. 💃🕺🎶

Westside wants to extend a huge thank you to Grant Gingerich Insurance agency for donating to help fund our 2nd grade Reading Eggs Program. This program is a fun way to engage our students in reading and learning and we are so grateful! 📖🥚🙏
Ms. Palmer's third graders read their story of the week with a buddy and helped "coach" each other when they got stuck or needed help. They took turns reading a page out loud and encouraged each other through it. 📚📖
Ms. Taber's 4th grade and Ms. Collins 2nd grade classes, which are "Westie Besties" exchanged Halloween treats. 🎃🍫🍬
Mrs. McClurg’s class got to learn about voting & got to do a mock vote. They read "Duck for President" and counted votes as a class. 🦆 🇺🇸🗳️

We are looking for donations of non-perishable items starting November 4th through the 22nd. You can send these items with your students and their teachers will collect them!

Westside had some very special visitors this week! Claremore Fire Department visited us and shared about Fire Safety, and what to do in the event of a fire. 🔥🚒👩🚒👨🚒
Students from Pre-K to 5th got to go through a pretend scenario in an inflatable house with the firefighters and even got to escape out of the window. After that, they moved on to see a firetruck and all of the things that are stored inside and used. 🚒
