📚 Readers are Leaders!🌟
Some of our older students have been taking a trip down memory lane, reading to their siblings' classes or their own from previous years. It's amazing to see them inspire the next generation of readers! 👏✨
💡 Fun Fact: Reading for just 6 minutes a day can reduce stress by 68%!😌📖

🧹✨ Happy National Custodian Day!✨🧼
A big shoutout to our incredible custodian, Ms. Andrea! You keep our school shining bright every day, and we are so grateful for all you do. 🙌💙
Thank you for your hard work and dedication in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone! 🌟

Monday, September 23rd is National Family Day. We are so thankful for our Westside Family!! 👏🏻♥️
Whatever your family looks like, Westside hopes that you take some time to appreciate each other today!

We stopped by the gym to check out Coach Campbell & her kindergarten class. Wow, talk about building & learning new skills with physical activity!
These Westies were doing station work practicing catching, throwing, stacking buckets, hitting a ball off the tee, perfecting their aim by throwing fuzz balls through the hoop & pushing themselves on scooters with friends. We love to see it! 💪🏽❤️🦓

It’s game day for the Zebras & Westside is here for it!!!
We could not love this pic of our 5th graders more!! We love it here! 🦓❤️📣🏈 Go Zebras!!

Happy Johnny Appleseed Day! 🍎🦓🍏 First grade & PreK has been celebrating all things apples this week!
Fact finding, taste testing, apple mashing, apple sauce cooking & lots of fun, apple themed learning!

We walked in to 4th grade to see Ms. Taber’s class learning all about lines of symmetry in Math.
This is not an easy concept, but her students were nailing it and ready to show their classmates what they had learned by determining if each letter could be split in half & match up perfectly - with lines of symmetry. 🦓❤️🙌🏽
Great work 4th grade & awesome lesson Ms. Taber!

Westside had the privilege of having an author visit and read to students. 📕
Mariana Llanos visited students and read her book, "Run, Little Chaski!" She included visual items into her reading and offered knowledge on the culture of the book. 🐚🌎

Picture day at Westside is coming up quick, so mark your calendars and plan your outfits! 📅
Picture day is September 27th and picture retakes will be done on October 25th.

The Westside t-shirt design competition is one of our exciting annual events! Westies completed their entries in art class under the guidance of Mr. McClurg. Without viewing names PTO selected their finalists out of 500 entries! The selections were narrowed down to 10 choices & the winning designs were voted on anonymously.
This year, both 1st & 2nd place designs will be available to order (details coming soon) These two winning designs will become our Westside school shirt design. We are so proud of your hard work & creativity! Please help us celebrate our winners!
1st Place - Parker S.
2nd Place - Kinsleigh R.

Westside showed their #CPSZEBRAPRIDE today as we gathered and cheered on our CHS football team, cheer leaders, dance team, HOCO representatives and the homecoming court! 🏈 🥁🎉📣

Mrs. Armbrister's kindergartners working hard on a homecoming craft, working on those cutting and gluing skills! 🏈

Students in the library read The VERY Impatient Caterpillar with Ms. Lang. 📕
Students got to vote on their favorite insect and draw their favorite insect. 🐞 🐛🦋

Student's in Mrs. Sweets second grade class read Clark the Shark and go to use their culinary skills to make their very own edible aquarium! 🦈
They used their math skills while working with the ingredients for this exciting project, and science when discussing the boiling point. ➕➖ 🌡

Pre-k had "construction week" and had construction related centers. They "built" letters, had a sensory bin with construction materials, built roads with blocks and magna-tiles, and even got to dress up! 🚧 🦺
So much fun in Mrs. Whitakers and Ms. Verges' class! 🔨🧱🔩👷👷🏽♀️

You know it's a great day when kindergartners break out and have a dance party at recess! 💃🏻 🕺🏻 🪩

Mrs. T's GT classes began this week. Their first unit of study is going to be based on the Olympics 🔴🟢🟡🔵⚫️
