Learning is fun, especially in pre-k where there are so many new things to discover. Our wonderful Westie, Liam, was excited to show Mrs. Whitaker the Letter D he found on the playground! This is the letter their class had been working on. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

When learning nursery rhymes, Mrs. Classen's class checks to see how many blocks it takes for Humpty Dumpty (a boiled egg) to have a great fall. They added to the excitement with the Itsy Bitsy Spider by making spider cookies. What a fun reading activity! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Sanders' 1st grade class has made fantastic growth in identifying numbers quickly with dice, dominoes, tallies, and fingers! These mathematicians are starting their school year off strong. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Campbell's 3rd grade class had the opportunity to take some peaceful reading time with flashlights. These Westies love including this discovery time in their day!🔦 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

This amazing 4th grade student paid Zebra Bucks (our positive behavior incentive) to participate in show and tell. Mrs. Armstrong was courteous enough to bring and share about their precious new puppy! Nothing like a fluffy pup to brighten a school day!🐶 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The 1st grade leaders in Mrs. Armbrister's class are rocking their new 95 Percent phonics curriculum! The practice they put in with these skills will help them grow into powerful readers.🥰 📚

CPS will be closed on Monday, September 4th, in honor of the Labor Day holiday. Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers.  It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.  This weekend, as we spend time with our families and friends, celebrate the value of an honest day’s work, the people who built America, and our nation’s advancements because of the American labor force.  #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

On Friday, Mrs. Barbee's kindergarten class explored with magic playdough. The playdough changed colors which means they are going to have a GREAT school year! Check out the excitement on their faces. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

‼ REMINDER - EARLY RELEASE = PLC MEETINGS FOR TEACHERS 📅 Begins August 25th Dismissal 🕑Elementary- 2:00p 🕝Secondary - 2:30p Early release for our kids means meeting time for our teachers. This time is excellent for lesson planning, district meetings, and sharing ideas with our teacher friends across the district. Professional learning communities (PLCs) are a collaborative approach to professional development. Small groups of educators meet regularly to explore new concepts, share expertise and insights from their teaching experiences, and engage in collective problem-solving. We are lucky we have this time and the technology to meet with teachers from all over the district to maximize our time together. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
