Our wonderful librarian, Ms. Lang, is book charting with Westies building wide. Ms. Lang introduces various Dr. Suess books during Read Across America Week. Students then put it to a vote and decide on their favorite story. So far Green Eggs and Ham has a decent lead.

Mrs. Frost’s class went to read with their Westie besties, Mrs. Books class, today for Read Across America Week. This collaboration is important to students young and old. Great job, Westie Besties!

Mrs. Ratcliff recently announced there is a National Tortilla Chip Day. That's a national holiday most of us can get behind! Mrs. Thomason’s students were the lucky winners of tasty chips and salsa. Thank you to El Azteca for donating for our big winners!

The Oklahoma Caring Van will provide FREE immunizations for children at the Claremore enrollment center March 21st & 23rd from 10a - 12p.
A parent/guardian must complete the required paperwork. Services will be provided to children who are uninsured, Medicaid eligible, or American Indian.

Westside GT classes recently held their first spirit button sale. The students created a button production business plan in order to raise money for their activities and donate a portion back to Westside. Today, $64 was presented to Mrs. Hinds as the initial donation. A second button sale will take place for Kdg-5th grades next week on March 1st, 2nd, and 3rd during the final half hour of each day. Buttons, which include designs such as kindness and encouragement, sports, hobbies, music, and holidays, are $1 each.

At Westside, learning takes place in a variety of ways. Students have the opportunity to grow with different activities utilizing various resources, strategies, and guidance from our amazing staff. Westside students are so hard working and continue to display their knowledge and skills.

Westside loves our Safety Patrol and the assistance they provide daily. These 5th grade students monitor and help throughout the building. Their guidance and support help both students and staff. Thank you for the continued effort and representing Westside!

Fourth grade students modeled incredible teamwork while researching natural disasters.Not only did they work together to research, but they also created a script to report their findings in a newscast format. Ms. Palmer filmed their broadcasts as they presented. Check out their fascinating projects!

These lovely third graders, Jazmyn and Vanna, volunteered their time to read in kindergarten. Ms. Pilant's class loved hearing the big kids explore new books. This is a beautiful display of support from one class to another.

Westside has been in the loving spirit for Valentine’s Day. These students enjoyed time with friends and family, opening Valentine’s cards and having yummy treats. Thank you for helping us spread the love and make these celebrations special.

Fourth grade students honor Black History Month as they listen to and play music by famous jazz artists like Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong. Mrs. Gaylord assists students in using boom sticks to follow the beats. Great work, Westside students!
