It's that time of year again, Westside had so many participants last year, let's do it again! Student's that were interested brought home a paper earlier this week. They will write out their favorite recipe & bring it back by this Friday, April 18th to be entered into the competition. If your student is chosen, they will make the recipe at the competition where they compete against other Junior Master Chef's.
State Testing has begun & we wanted to share a few important tips with our families!
✅ Get a good night’s sleep – Rested brains work better!
🥣 Eat a healthy breakfast – Fuel up with something nutritious.
⏰ Be on time – A calm morning helps set the tone for a great day.
🧘 Take deep breaths – It’s okay to feel nervous. Just do your best!
💬 Encouragement matters – A little “You’ve got this!” goes a long way.

5th graders working in Mrs. James’s class are building robotic structures, connecting them to electricity & coding it on the computer to get them to move and operate. Wow!
Our older grades have state testing coming up quick, and Mrs. Barbee's kindergarten class created an inspiring sign for Ms. Pilant's 3rd grade class. They even brought them Easter themed eggs with gifts inside! 🥚 🎁

Recently, 5th grade got to visit the PAC for the District wide Fine Arts rally.
Students were exposed to art, music, drama, band & other parts of the art world. What an awesome chance to be exposed to what’s offered at WRJH & CHS!
Mrs. Stone’s class has been studying & creating cubes along with vertices, edges & faces. When finished, they get a sweet treat and get to try sugar cubes! 🧊🧊

Today is National Sibling's Day & we've got some great siblings here at Westside! We love to see their faces light up as they pass each other in the hallway and when they pile out of the car in the mornings. 🤠🦓

Recently, our third graders got to partake in Tulsa Operas "Stop, Bully!" show. This show was interactive & students enjoyed learning about what the singer and actresses do.
February's staff member of the month was Mrs. Lyons!
As our school counselor, Mrs. Lyons wears many hats. She provides a safe space for students that need it, resources to families that might be going through trials & is always looking out for the well being of our students. She connects with teachers, parents & members of the community and helps make Westside the Best Side! 🏫🦓♥
