Ain't No Party Like A CPSF Party!!!
The 2022 Gatsby Brainiac Brawl wouldn't have been a huge success without the hard work of the CPSF Board of Trustees. We are so thankful for this group of volunteers that share their talents and treasures to fulfill the mission of enriching the quality of education in the Claremore Public Schools.

Today we get to learn a little about a new teacher in our building, Mrs. Kelsey Perry!
"My name is Kelsey Perry and I was born and raised in Broken Arrow. I currently live in Claremore with my husband and two kids. I graduated from NSU with a degree in Molecular Biology. This is my 7th year teaching. Some of my favorite things are dark chocolate, reading, Harry Potter, spending time with my family, and road trips! A fun fact about me is that I know sign language!"
We are so happy to have you at Westside! ❤

On the 100th day of school, our students looked older and wiser! The 100th day of school is the perfect day to reflect upon and celebrate major milestones in our student's academic and personal achievements! You know we take every opportunity to celebrate our amazing students! 😉💯
We asked Mrs. Hinds what she will be doing when she turns 100! She said "Travel, travel, travel! No matter what I want to see all I can!"
Feel free to share your 100th-day pictures with us here!

It's the little things that WARM your heart! Our sweet 5th-grade friend, Kolby Hilburn, brought hot chocolate to our staff on outside duty this morning! This little act of kindness had the duty teachers in tears (of joy of course. 😊) The support we have from our families, community, and especially our students is what keeps us going! Thank you to all that have sent notes, encouragement, little gifts, or pick-me-ups to our teachers! It means more to us than you know. It's a great day to be a Zebra! ❤❤

We proudly reintroduce to you, our Teacher of the Year, Ms. Cynthia Nicks!!
"I attended college at Oklahoma State University. Go Pokes!
I have been at Westside for 10 wonderful years and have been teaching 3rd grade for nine of those years. I could not imagine my life without teaching. It is my passion and I am beyond lucky to do what I love each day. I have an amazing team I work with. We strive to give our kids the best education we can.
In my room, we have been working on responsibility and self-discipline. We have been working on setting goals and working toward those goals in the New Year. In addition, we have been working on staying focused and organized in order to help us reach our goals." -Cynthia Nicks!
Thank you for sharing with us, Ms. Nicks! Westside is incredibly thankful and proud to have you! ❤

Great minds think alike and look at these powerful minds linking up! Students get so excited to match their friends or their teachers, so of course it MUST be documented! Check out all these totally twinning pairs! ❤

Our teacher features are back! This time we get to know, Mrs. Jennifer Collins!
Mrs. Collins is married to Gary and they have two grown children. She has taught for 27 years and currently teaches 2nd grade. Her favorite thing about teaching is watching her students succeed and seeing them so excited about coming to school each day. During the month of December, Mrs. Collins' students worked on RAKS (Random Acts of Kindness) at school and home to reinforce the word of the month, compassion. Students also completed an Unlock the North Pole math challenge, which encourages higher-level math skills and cooperative learning. The class also worked very hard on authoring and publishing their very first-class book.
Mrs. Collins' favorite things are spending time with her family, reading, boating, and all things Oklahoma State. GO COWBOYS!
Mrs. Collins' fun fact is she also attended Westside during her elementary school years.
We loved getting to know about you and your class, Mrs. Collins! Thank you so much for sharing and being so loyal to Westside! ❤

This Friday Funny came about as a teacher was putting some music on during work time. One student got excited and said, "Can we listen to wrecking ball?!?!?!?!?! It's not bad or anything!!!" The teacher replied, "No, we are listening to calming, focus music today." The student was almost frantic at this point and almost squealed, "THAT IS FOCUS MUSIC!! It's calming! Well, the beginning part is anyways!"

Ms. Palmer’s 4th Grade English Language Arts class has been working on a biography research project. They went through each step of the writing process. The students also had to read their reports to their class to complete the project.
Many students lack experience with public speaking, so they were given some options to make them feel comfortable. They could sit or stand at the front of the room. They could also choose to be on “The Voice” and this means that everyone faces away from the speaker or if they chose “American Idol” everyone would face the speaker.
These options are important because it helps minimize the stress of public speaking for those that are not as comfortable. It helps students focus on being clear and concise instead of worrying about others. This will help them build the confidence they need to be able to stand in front of their peers and speak.
Great job, 4th grade! We love watching your confidence grow! ❤

With cold weather upon us, we remind our bus rider families to download our STOPFINDER APP to their mobile phones. The GPS option allows you to put a geofence around your stop and the app will notify you when the bus has entered that area. It also allows you to see where the bus is on the route in real-time, at your convenience.
Download available for FREE from the App Store or Google Play.

This Friday funny was heard during a discussion about doing the right thing even when no one is watching. The teacher told the students that we need to do the right thing whenever possible and not just when we know we are being watched and one student excitedly raised his hand to say, "Well when you're in school you are always being watched. Teachers have eyes on the back of their heads, eyes on their chins, eyes on their knees, but not eyes on their toes because if they had shoes on they couldn't see."
Well, teachers might be good, but not 5 or more sets of eyes good! 😂
