Happy New Year from Claremore Public Schools. As we enter into a new year, we all seem to take time to reflect on our lives, habits, choices from the past and contemplate how they impact our future. This reflection can lead to new inspiration, goals, resolutions, or a new focus. Instead of adding to it, some consideration may lead to removing obstacles or habits from our lives. Either way, we are all looking for a positive change.

Many things could be said about 2021, but one thing Westside teachers and staff can say is we had a great year with our students! Thank you to all who supported us through the year. "I was raised in Claremore, attended Claremore High School, and now live here with my husband, John. We have two married children, Audrey and John. I enjoy gardening and traveling, and I love teaching! Fun fact about me, the natural decorations in my room come straight off my property!
The first pictures are of the kids reading together show cooperation & friendship. The next pictures are of the kids with leaves from when we collected and investigated leaves, then created art with leaves, this project was inspired by the book "Leaf Man."

Westside proudly introduces, and welcomes back, Mrs. Sommer Sweet! Mrs. Sweet returned to Westside this year. She is a part of our fabulous 2nd-grade team!
"I have been a teacher for 16 years. I am blessed to have been at Westside for 13 of those years. I am married and have 1 grown son! I graduated from Claremore High School then went on to Graduate from NSU with a degree in Education! I absolutely love my job, my students, and this school!
I enjoy reading and spending time with my family! We also like to travel and explore new places! My fun fact, I did a lot of acting as a child. I was in plays, commercials, radio things!
We love to do hands-on learning in our room! From Unlock challenges to becoming published authors! The students are always working and learning in many ways!"

On reindeer dress-up day, we make reindeer! Mrs. Book's class did a fabulous job drawing reindeer and they even wrote a little about what they would do if they were reindeer! Great work, Mrs. Book's class!

Claremore Public Schools is now live with the new electronic flyer communication tool called “Peachjar.” To view school-approved eflyers, simply click the Peachjar button on your school’s website homepage or mobile app.
This “green” initiative will save our schools tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. On top of that, posting school flyers in this electronic backpack reduces clutter and will help parents keep track of school events.

Missing flyers have begun to pop up all over the building! Peef the Christmas Bear has been bear-napped from Mrs. Stones' class!
Students are diligently making and putting up flyers all around the building in hopes that their good friend Peef might return before their Christmas party.
Peef always seems to get bear-napped around this time of year, who would do such a thing?!?!?! Hearts are broken and wishes are unwished without their special Christmas Bear!

Reading Makes You A Smart Cookie! Look at these smart cookies diving into their books! One of their favorite parts about spending time in the library is talking about their favorite books with friends and finding new books to read! We love to see our students fall in love with reading! Happy Hero Wednesday! Even with all the fun and crazy Christmas activities, our heroes are shining!! Some of these heroes helped out in the classroom, some of them comforted friends that were having rough days, others cleaned around the school without being asked. Some of our 3rd-grade friends have been busy constructing Array City! An array refers to a set of numbers or objects that will follow a specific pattern. Arrays are visual tools that assist in teaching division and multiplication. They are a great tool that can help engage students with various learning styles.

"I’m married to my sweet husband, Cody. We have our adventurous boy who’s in kindergarten and a fur baby. I love to read, travel and be with friends and family. Fun fact, I have been to 8 different countries."
Current projects - students have been researching and learning about Native American Indians and shared their knowledge with the class.
