4th graders went on a text structure scavenger hunt in their English Language Arts classes. Cards were all over the classroom and students read the card and determined if the card described a cause & effect, sequence or compare & contrast. The 4th graders used their problem-solving skills to get the task done. Way to have fun in 4th grade! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
4th graders got out of the box in Geometry. In Mrs. Robinson’s Math class students worked on geometrical figures, lines, segments and rays. Math is more than adding and subtracting because Math is FUN! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
After studying text features all week, First grade faced the challenge of completing a text feature escape room! In order to escape the classroom for an extra recess students had to match the correct riddles to the corresponding boxes. Inside the boxes the students found hidden puzzle pieces. After earning all the puzzle pieces, the classroom completed the puzzle to escape the room! Who says text features are not fun??? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
The Roosa 3rd graders took an OKC Blue Day! This is a STEM-based event sponsored by Oklahoma Oil & Natural gas. Students watched an OKC Thunder Basketball game at the BOK Center and were able to experience the STEM curriculum provided by the Oklahoma Science Museum. The Thunder Mascot Rumble stopped by to learn with the students. Students were given a workbook to take home and continue learning. The buses were provided by the Claremore Public Schools Foundation. Thank you to everyone that made this wonderful event possible and prove that Science is FUN! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
In the Innovation Lab, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are learning the fundamentals
of robotics through Vex Robotics. The same robotics platform as our junior-high and high-school students. Students learned about gear ratio, the difference between driven and driving gears, torque, and average speed. Utilizing the engineering design process, they designed and built their robots, tested their designs, problem solved obstacles, reevaluated solutions, and then retested modifications. Students recorded data while measuring distance traveled in five test runs using five variables. They had a ton of fun without ever realizing all the math and science involved in their learning! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
A musical Recorder is a woodwind musical instrument with eight finger holes and is played like a whistle. Mr. Peters’ music class got out the Recorders and practiced notes and scales on the recorders. Music is fun! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
