Coach Johnson introduced Mrs. Bonekins to the P.E. students this week. Mrs. Bonekins is a teaching skeleton. Students need to learn about the skeleton because it is the framework of our bodies. Our skeleton helps us stand upright and move our arms and legs. Our skeleton helps protect our internal organs, such as our heart, lungs and brain. Without our skeletal system we would be like a lump of jelly. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
Our Roosa Clothes Closet is in desperate need of boys pants size 7, 8, 9 & 10. All donations are welcome but this is our highest need right now. ALL clothing donations are welcome. Clothes can be dropped off at the front office during school hours. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
Mrs. Devers’ 2nd grade class did a science experiment called “Exploding Hot Chocolate!” This was a fun way to end their “how-to” writing unit over making the perfect cup of hot chocolate. Students spend time reviewing how matter can change states and how chemical reactions can be caused using only simple ingredients. Fun was had by all while learning and making a mess! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
The Roosa Share the Spirit Canned Food Drive started with a goal of 1,000 cans of green beans or corn. Roosa had two weeks to meet that goal and that goal was squashed! Roosa students brought in over 5,000 cans!!! When Share the Spirit came to collect the cans Roosa students were there to help load the truck! Thank you to everyone who donated cans for this food drive. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
In 5th grade Science class, students dug deep with the Layers of the Earth! Students made a 3-D model showing the different layers. It might seem like Earth is one solid rock but it actually has an Inner Core, Outer Core, Mantle and Crust. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
1st grade enjoyed a gingerbread man unit where they spent two weeks reading and comparing different gingerbread stories from the Gingerbread Cowboy to the Gingerbread Ninja. The week ended with a special treat of gingerbread man snacks. They read their final book Gingerbread Man Loose in the School by Laura Murray and when they went back to the classroom their snacks were gone! The class discovered that their gingerbread man snacks had run away in the school!
Students passed out wanted posters and went on a scavenger hunt to recover the missing snacks. When the students went back to class they found the gingerbread man snacks back in the classroom! They ate them quickly this time before they ran away again!

Mrs. Bourgeois’ 5th grade math class students worked on multi-digit numbers by two-digit number multiplication. Things to remember in multiplication, sometimes regrouping is necessary, any number times zero is zero, and bring a pencil and an eraser. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
Mrs. Devers’ and Mrs. Shaw’s students walked into a huge surprise! Mrs. Devers wanted to do something special for them, so she asked friends and family if they had any interest in donating a blanket to a student as a Christmas gift. In less than 24 hours people stepped up and had sponsored all 29 students! The surprise and excitement was overwhelming! She told them all that every time they use the blanket, to remember they are loved and special to people who have never even met them.
