Mrs. Brasher’s 3rd grade class read the book Mercedes and the Chocolate Pilot Candy by Margot Raven. This is a true story of the Berlin Airlift and the Candy that was dropped from the sky in West Berlin, Germany in 1948. The class made their own parachutes and dropped them on the playground. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

2nd grade has been learning about Christmas around the world. During their “trip to Israel” they studied the Hanukkah tradition and learned to play a traditional game called Dreidel. This game requires partners to spin a Dreidel piece and collect as many coins as they can to win the game. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. LaValley 2nd grade teacher #ROOSASTAFFSPOTLIGHT I graduated from Claremore High School in 2016 and attended Northeastern State University for Undergrad and Graduate school. I will graduate with a Master's in School Administration in May of 2022!!! I have been married for one year and have a sweet dog named Reese. I have taught at Roosa for 2 years. I attended Roosa as an elementary student so being back at my homeschool is so special to me! I chose to teach because I love learning and I hope to instill that same love in children. I love teaching because it is never the same on any given day. I once had a professor tell me "no two children learn the same way on the same day" and it has proven to be true. Teaching is much like putting a puzzle together. Once you find the right pieces and materials that match your class, the rest just falls into place. My favorite quote is: "The future belongs to those that believe in the beauty of their dreams." -Eleanor Roosevelt #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

1st grade enjoyed a gingerbread man unit where they spent two weeks reading and comparing different gingerbread stories from the Gingerbread Cowboy to the Gingerbread Ninja. The week ended with a special treat of gingerbread man snacks. They read their final book Gingerbread Man Loose in the School by Laura Murray and when they went back to the classroom their snacks were gone! The class discovered that their gingerbread man snacks had run away in the school! Students passed out wanted posters and went on a scavenger hunt to recover the missing snacks. When the students went back to class they found the gingerbread man snacks back in the classroom! They ate them quickly this time before they ran away again! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Roosa PTO is currently hosting the Annual Santa Shop. This is an opportunity for the students to purchase a wrapped gift that is ready to stick under the tree! Each gift is priced from $1 to $5. Upcoming shopping days are as follows: Wed, Dec 8 - 2nd & 4th grade Thur, Dec 9 - AM Pre K & 3rd Grade Fri, Dec 10 - Last chance day The Santa Shop is not a fundraiser, it is a community service the PTO provides for the students to be able to shop for their family. Neely Insurance gave money for every student at Roosa to spend $1 at the Santa Shop. Reasor's provided bags for the students to put their gifts in. Very generous parents have donated too. Over 20 PTO parents wrapped all the gifts. The students have loved shopping for their family and it’s a special treat. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
