Mrs. Riggs Kindergarten class spent time this week studying the author & illustrator Eric Carle and his unique collage art style! They were able to paint beautiful paper using interesting tools such as combs, cars, sponges, film canisters, etc. When their papers were dry they designed and created some very colorful collage art pictures! Here are some of their masterpieces!

In Mrs. Rippy's Kindergarten class learning is not boring! Students are learning math skills such as how to count, compare and understand addition. They have a hot cocoa learning center equipped with cups and cotton balls for marshmallows. Keep counting Little Zebras! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Hendrickson - Roosa Paraprofessional - #ROOSASTAFFSPOTLIGHT I'm a Claremore graduate who has studied at both OU and RSU and have been at Roosa for 10 years. I am a para for 4th and 5th grade and absolutely love what I do! I enjoy so many aspects of my job from the great team I'm surrounded by to the students that teach me just as much as I (hopefully, lol) teach them. They definitely keep things interesting and full of love every day! I adore working with kids and getting to be any part of their "Aha!" moment.
I have been married to my husband, Troy for almost 11 years and have two boys: Ayden, who is finishing his junior year at CHS, and Gabe who is finishing up 8th grade. We have two cats, Zelda and Harry (and two more from somewhere in the neighborhood that like to come and hang out on our front porch every evening). I've been so lucky in life to be brought up by two genuinely awesome parents, encountered some amazingly encouraging teachers, and have some of the best friends and colleagues anyone could ask for - so many sources to draw inspiration from! Mrs. Devers' class likes to play Tensie, a fast-paced dice game which focuses on number subitizing (identifying the number in a set by looking quickly instead of actually counting it), and hand/eye coordination. They love a bit of friendly competition while practicing life skills! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. LaValley’s 2nd grade class read the story Thundercake by Patricia Polacco and did their own weather research. Groups were instructed to research about their strom (tornadoes, tsunamis, and hurricanes) and then show their meteorology skills by presenting to the class a weather report! To get ready for this, we watched Trav’s Wild Weather show and learned about tornadoes, lightning, and floods. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The Native American Club has been working on their basket weaving project since February 18. It takes a while to weave. The reed has to be soaked before weaving. The students had to cut 11 pieces of reed (spokes) 10 inches long. Then soak the reed that is end inserted in the drilled plywood base. They insert the spokes in the base. Bringing one spoke over until all the spokes are secure. Once that is done they can start weaving the baskets. They get a long piece of reed and weave it in and out through each spoke until they come to the end, then start over. At mid way they can insert beads if desired. Then continue until they get to the top of the basket. The whole time the basket must stay wet for the reed to be weaved. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

How many eggs did you find in your basket? Kindergartens found and counted the eggs in their baskets. Wishing lots of happiness on this long weekend! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Have you ever wondered why we have P.E. (Physical Education) in our school? Physical education provides cognitive content and instruction designed to develop motor skills, knowledge, and behaviors for physical activity and physical fitness. This provides students with the ability and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime. Miss Johnson’s P.E. class has Zebras moving and going while teaching skills that will last a lifetime! Roosa loves Miss Johnson’s P.E. classes! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

How often do you use a Dictionary? In 2nd grade students opened the dictionary and discovered the part of speech, pronunciation and definition of words. The words in the Dictionary are listed in alphabetical order and are grouped together by Guide Words found at the top of the page. Take some time to learn a new word and look in a Dictionary. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Brasher‘s 3rd grade students took a walking trip to the STEM Lab where they helped the 6th graders invent arcade games. STEM is the teaching of science with technology, engineering and math. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
