5th grade has been working on a Writing Boot Camp! Small groups and partners have been working on prep work for state testing! Excellent way to get those creative juices flowing! Have you ever wondered why we have P.E. (Physical Education) in our school? Physical education provides cognitive content and instruction designed to develop motor skills, knowledge, and behaviors for physical activity and physical fitness. This provides students with the ability and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime. Miss Johnson’s P.E. class has Zebras moving and going while teaching skills that will last a lifetime! How often do you use a Dictionary? In 2nd grade students opened the dictionary and discovered the part of speech, pronunciation and definition of words. The words in the Dictionary are listed in alphabetical order and are grouped together by Guide Words found at the top of the page. Take some time to learn a new word and look in a Dictionary. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Brasher‘s 3rd grade students took a walking trip to the STEM Lab where they helped the 6th graders invent arcade games. STEM is the teaching of science with technology, engineering and math. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Mann’s 2nd grade class learned about Amelia Earhart during Women’s History Month. They learned about how she set records and defied boundaries placed on women at that time. In honor of her bravery they created airplanes using science standards to help make the best possible planes! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

JaNaWhite - Zebra Stripes Director #ROOSASTAFFSPOTLIGHT I attended Robert E Lee High School in Midland, Texas and Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. This is my 11th year at Claremore Public Schools and my 9th year at Roosa Elementary. My husband and I have been married for 33 years. We have 4 adult children and 1 grandson. We have a horse named Peso and 5 doggies: Ollie, Ketch, Ruby, Ebony and Baby. I chose to work in public education because I felt like it was something I could do to make a difference in the world. One of my favorite things to see when a child begins to have self-confidence and really believes that they can do anything that they put their minds to do. My greatest inspiration were my grandparents. They weren't perfect, but they taught me to work hard and to be strong. Most of all, they showed me how to believe the best about people. My favorite Quote is "What has been, I cannot change - but for tomorrow and today, I must be a light for future generations". - Mark Harris.

5th grade has been learning about the Energy in Food they eat. Did you know that children between the ages of 10 and 12 need a minimum of 2,200 Calories each day? Students looked at the calories and the nutritional value of different foods. Some students were shocked at how many calories were in their favorite sodas compared to the food they consume for energy. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Kindergarten through 2nd went to the Stephen Fite concert at the PAC. Stephen Fite is an award-winning musician and writer. His music is suitable for the classroom, car or living room. He has upbeat children’s music that ranges from rock to Reggae. He encourages students to get out of their seats and learn with movement and song.
