The 4th grade students became familiar with the difference between a Singular and Possessive noun. If the noun is singular, add an apostrophe S. Example: The school’s playground was freshly mowed. If the noun is plural and ends in S, just add an apostrophe. Example: The students’ desks were cleaned this morning. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

#ROOSASTAFFSPOTLIGHT Mrs. Haggard Secretary at Roosa Elementary. I went to Edison High School in Tulsa and Rogers State University. This is my second year at Roosa. I have two children and two granddaughters with one attending our PreK. My grandmom has been an inspiration in my life. She seemed to always have time for the grandkids and played games with us all of the time. My favorite quote is “Life is short so forgive and do not hold grudges as we do not know the journey others are traveling” Anonymous #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

2nd grade has been learning about the Mayflower voyage!! As a token to remind us about the history of this famous ship and the hardships that they overcame-they made small models! They did such a great job constructing these wooden boats with minimal assistance. The instructions and encouragement from sweet friends helped create not only their models, but precious memories!!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Lea Brewer, Roosa Speech Pathologist, I earned my Bachelors Degree at NSU Tahlequah and Masters at the University of Tulsa. I have been at Roosa for two years. I chose this profession because I wanted to help children find a voice and improve their life. I enjoy the ability to have a work life balance. The inspiration in my life has been my 7th grade reading teacher who introduced me to different genres and that reading could be fun. My favorite quote is: “When you come to the end of all the light you know, and it’s time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: Either you will be given something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly.” Edward Teller #ROOSASTAFFSPOTLIGHT #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

“Storytelling, basket weaving, bow making and all of those traditions we’ve been taught for generations, if those disappear along with the language, then there’s really no aspect making someone Cherokee other than a card,” Robert Lewis said. “Telling these traditions, telling these stories and sharing the knowledge you have, that’s an aspect of being Cherokee.” For centuries, Native societies successfully used nothing but oral tradition and mnemonic devices, such as the wampum belt, to pass on and preserve the knowledge of these traditions and customs. The past several hundred years, however, the preservation of Native culture has been threatened by genocide, disease and forced assimilation into Western culture. Robert Lewis is a Cherokee Heritage Storyteller and he virtually visited 5th grade and shared stories, fables and tales of the Cherokee Heritage talking about rabbit, wold, fox, etc. he has been telling stories for years. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
