Julie Jones - CHS Art Feature

This is Julie Jones. She is going into her Junior year at CHS and is a National Award Winning artist. We got to talk to her about her pieces and her artistic journey!

🎨How long have you been in art?- I’ve been in art since 8th grade.

🎨What awards have you won with these two pieces?- I won first and third in the art show, along with a scholarship and a gold key in the scholastic art and writing competition.

🎨What have you learned about yourself through your art?- I learned that I am capable of so much more when I have the right support system.

🎨What did it mean to you to have multiple pieces of art in the show? I felt accomplished to have multiple prizes in the art show, and I was just over the moon that my pieces got ribbons.

🎨How do you feel that your art teachers have helped/supported you in your pursuits? I am grateful for the support I had. There was no way I would have been able to do this without the encouragement they gave, especially when I was in doubt.

🎨What was the artistic journey that piqued your interest? Growing up, my memaw did lots of beautiful artwork, and it just kinda encouraged me to try and do the same.

🎨When did you first discover your interest in art? I discovered my interest in art in elementary school by doodling on my assignments.

🎨What have you learned about yourself through this experience/art? Art has shown me that everything is perfect in its own way.

🎨What was the inspiration behind your pieces, and why compelled you to create them? Normally I’d never use bright colors, but with Mrs. Hoffer's encouragement, I decided to try it out, and I loved it. The way the colors just seemed to connect together made me realize that there was so much more to using bold colors than I originally thought, which helped inspire me to create my artwork in hopes of showing others what I had discovered.
