Claremore, OK — Claremore High School proudly recognizes senior Eve Mathews-Cox as its 50th Academic All-State recipient, a milestone achievement that places her among the top 100 seniors in the state of Oklahoma. This prestigious honor reflects Eve’s academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to purposeful involvement throughout her high school career.
Although becoming an Academic All-Stater was not an original goal when she entered high school, the distinction quickly became something Eve worked toward once she learned about the honor. “I’m so glad I’ve set myself up for success academically, and that it led me to this point,” she shared. Being named Academic All-State serves as both recognition and validation of the effort she has invested over the last four years.
Eve has been actively involved in a wide range of academic and service-oriented organizations, including SkillsUSA, Student Council, Biomed Club, and FUZE. She has held multiple leadership roles, including State Vice President for SkillsUSA, Senior Class Secretary, and Biomed Club Ambassador, experiences that have helped shape her confidence, leadership skills, and passion for advocacy.

She credits Mr. Riggs and Mrs. Coyle as two of the educators who had the greatest influence on her academic success and personal growth. “They’ve been amazing role models and helped me in my college and career decisions,” Eve said. “They’ve pushed me to be a better student and overall person.”
This fall, Eve will attend Washington University in St. Louis, where she plans to major in Biomedical Engineering. Her long-term career goals include pursuing a future in medical research or ophthalmology, combining innovation, service, and science.

One of her most meaningful high school experiences was serving as a state officer for SkillsUSA. Through this role, Eve had opportunities to travel, advocate for education, and grow as a leader. “Being a state officer gave me so many opportunities I never would’ve had otherwise,” she said.
When asked what advice she would offer students hoping to achieve Academic All-State recognition, Eve emphasized involvement and personal growth over numbers. “Excelling isn’t about a GPA or ACT score,” she explained. “It’s about who you are and the experiences you’ve gained.”
Reflecting on the moment she learned she had earned Academic All-State status, Eve described the recognition as meaningful and affirming. “It proves to me that all of my work hasn’t been for nothing,” she said. “It’s a reminder that what I’ve been doing these last four years has been worth it.”
As Claremore High School’s 50th Academic All-State honoree, Eve Mathews-Cox represents a legacy of excellence and leadership at CHS. Her achievement not only honors her individual success but also reflects the strength of the academic opportunities and support provided to students across Claremore Public Schools.
