The Claremore Public Schools Board of Education recently approved the district-recommended calendar for the 2027-28 school year. A committee of school representatives developed the calendar with input from teachers, administrators, and parents. Our team worked diligently to optimize student learning while accommodating the needs of the families we serve.
Please keep the 2027-28 calendar dates in mind as you plan family vacations, appointments, and commitments. Student attendance is critical to academic success – every day matters.
When students are absent, they miss valuable instruction, peer collaboration, and daily learning that can't be fully replicated. We understand life happens, but whenever possible, please schedule trips and non-urgent appointments around the school calendar.
Thank you for prioritizing your child's attendance and education. When students are present and engaged, everyone succeeds.
Here are a few highlights from the 2027-28 calendar:
First Day of School: August 19, 2027
Last Day of School (Students): May 25, 2028
Last Day of School (Teacher Checkout): May 26, 2028
Graduation: May 21, 2028
Early Release Days (PLC): The district will begin early Friday dismissals on September 10, 2027, to allow teachers more time to collaborate and explore student resources with their Professional Learning Community (PLC). Early release will continue every Friday through the end of the school year.
August 20 and August 27 will be full instructional days with no early release.
Professional Development Day (PD): January 3, 2028
On PD Days, students will have a break from classes; however, teachers will be on campus for training to continue building the skills and knowledge that benefit students.

Labor Day: September 3 & 6, 2027
Fall Break: October 14–15, 2027
Thanksgiving: November 22–26, 2027
Winter Break: December 20, 2027–January 3, 2028
(Students return: January 4, 2028)
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day: January 17, 2028
Presidents' Day: February 21, 2028
Spring Break: March 13–17, 2028
Spring Holiday: April 14, 2028
Parent-Teacher Conferences
High School: September 21 & October 28, 2027; February 10 & March 28, 2028
WRJH: September 21 & October 28, 2027; February 10 & March 28, 2028
Elementary: October 7 & 12, 2027; March 2 & 9, 2028
While we do not anticipate calendar changes, the district will regularly communicate with families about any required revisions or adjustments. If you have any questions about the calendar, you are welcome to contact your child’s school office.
