Over the next few weeks, we will celebrate those who received scholarships from our CPS partners who have invested in the future of our students. Seven CPS seniors received $1,000 each from the Claremore Alumni Association Scholarship totaling a $7,000 investment. Today's entry in our #ZebraTravelDiaries for the summer of 2022 is the Hurts. No one says #CPSZEBRAPRIDE more than this family! They took their COVID cruise two years later to celebrate Jayla's high school graduation (who graduated in 2020). They visited Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Belize. Jarreka joined her sister in the Zebra alumni ranks in May. Coach Hurt is the head coach for CHS football and Mrs. Hurt is a teacher at WRJH. They just got back from Panama City Beach, Florida, where they showed their #CPSZEBRAPRIDE while playing on the beach and riding the Sea Screamer! They also visited with grandparents in Alabama! Mrs. Nicole Griffin is a para at Catalayah Elementary; Ethan and Madelyn are students at Catalayah...and will be in 3rd grade and Kindergarten. Before school was out, Mrs. Maxville's class enjoyed their Kindergarten day in 5th grade. She likes to remind her students even though they are growing up, they are never to old to have fun and enjoy school. They made play-doh and a "Z" zebra craft. Our kindergarten teachers Mrs. Stolusky and Mrs. Douthitt even came down to visit. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Claremore NJROTC Corps of Cadets recently had four cadets graduate from the 2022 American Legion Boys State held at Rogers State University. In a thank you letter to the sponsoring American Legion, one cadet wrote-- "They say that Boy's State is "the week that shapes a lifetime." This statement is absolutely true. The life lessons I learned have already had a huge impact on how I think and conduct myself." - Cadet Chandler Wilson. FFA had two state champions at the State Convention this spring. Rachel Yewell was a state champion in Dairy Production Entrepreneurship and Josh Brown was a state champion in Small Animal Production. Both had to fill out extensive applications and keep records of their projects. They were both awarded a scholarship along with a state champion plaque. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Gage is a senior at CHS and Quinn is a 3rd grader at Catalayah. They're wearing shirts designed by Quinn for Catalayah earlier this year. When you have talent within your district, there is no need to go looking elsewhere. When we reached out to Morgan Wiggs, an art student at CHS and a member of the Class of 2022, to commission an original painting for the entry of the Administration offices, she was thrilled to lend her talent and time to create this one-of-a-kind piece. Nothing says #CPSZEBRAPRIDE like a red and white zebra stripe! CPS may have refined her skills and encouraged her love of art, but she has now left her mark hanging on the wall of CPS.

Today's entry in our #ZebraTravelDiaries is another one from Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Hudson was the ring bearer and Riley the flower girl in their uncle's wedding. Both are Westside students. Two CPS seniors received *$1,500 and twelve received $1,000 each from the Bluejacket Scholarship Fund, totaling 14 scholarships and a $15,000 investment. Having no children of their own, they arranged to leave a lasting gift to Claremore students. It was the Bluejacket's wish to give back to Claremore students in a meaningful and lasting way. In 2005, their estate was given to the Claremore Public Schools Foundation to invest for future Claremore students' generations. I n 2007, Sam and Hazel Lessley added to the Bluejacket Scholarship endowment with a substantial contribution. The Bluejackets directed the Claremore Public Schools Foundation that scholarships be awarded to students "with proven records of academic achievement." #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

It's FLAG DAY. Here are our new flags and poles at Claremore High School made possible with the #ZebraBond2019. We'd love to see your flags flying. Post a pic in the comments. It is the day, 244 years ago, when Congress commemorated Betsy Ross' creation of the Stars & Stripes as our national flag. The flag has looked different throughout those years, of course, 27 variations, actually, as America grew through the colonies to the 50 states represented in the white stars today. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mr. Drew Cumming, a CHS history teacher, led eight CHS students on an educational travel tour to Washington DC this summer. For most, students have flashbacks of class discussions and pages and pages of assigned reading in their textbooks—but there's nothing like seeing and touching U.S. history firsthand, like reliving significant historical times that shaped the world they live in today. There is no better way to connect the words on the pages of their textbooks than to experience the people, places, and culture for themselves. Who knows, this trip may inspire them to become key players in American history themselves. The CHS roster included Levi Craig (9), Coleby Craig (12), Ethan Harrison(12), Ethan Hays (11), Eli Fouse (10), Gannon Riggs (10), Meadow Hiner (9), McKinley Grimes (11), and Rowan Brown (12- Adair Public Schools). #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Maddox Thomas may have played her last game in her Zebra uniform this past weekend in the East/West All-State Games, but it was not the final game of her career. Maddox will continue her athletic and academic career at the University of Nebraska, Omaha - a D1 program, this fall. Show those Omaha Mavericks some #CPSZEBRAPRIDE!

Today's entry in our #ZebraTravelDiaries is Tyler Osgood, an incoming freshman who spent the week on Lake Rabun in Northeast Georgia. He is a part of the Claremore baseball program and is looking forward to returning to the Zebra's baseball diamond for summer ball and many more years.
