Valentines Day NOTICE 💝 Any Valentines' gift sent to the school will be held in the office (or library) until the end of the day. A note will be sent to the receiver to let them know they received a delivery. 🚌 Be advised, bus riders are not allowed to take glass or balloons on the bus with them, all items must fit into their backpack. The CHS and WRJH TSA members stopped by Roosa to lead the 5th grade in a STEM project. The students separated into groups of two. Each group made a bridge that had to hold weight. The groups used only popsicle sticks, masking tape, and a bowl. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

🏊‍♀️ CHS swims their way to V-I-C-T-O-R-Y at 6A swim meet. 🥇🥇 Sylvia Admire bringing home the gold in the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. 🥇🥉 Brenlyn bringing home the gold the 100 back and bronze in the 200 freestyle. Both swimmers heading to the State Swim Meet in Edmond on February 18th-19th.

Mrs. Best’s Pre K class has been working on letter recognition. The students are also working on sign language with their letters. Today they are learning the letter "K". #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We are not just building robots; they are building a future. They are building teamwork skills. They are building problem-solving skills. They are building character. But they are also building WINNERS! 🤖 Team 8634X won the Design Award and the TOURNAMENT! 🤖 Team 8634R won the Judges Award! This event was the largest tournament in the state since the start of the pandemic, with 45 teams! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

In Mrs. Coffey's art class they have been working on agamograph optical illusions. Also known as a Lenticular, an agamograph is an art form that uses optical illusion to create that changes when you look at it from different angles.

Learning is messy! In Mr. Gregg's class, students build volcanoes to wrap up their lesson on Plate Tectonics. Students were able to erupt their volcanoes multiple times, each time adding a layer of 'lava' where it exploded. Students were so engaged they asked permission to take photos & videos of their volcano erupting. Every time they show someone their photos, they will be reinforcing what they learned in class. That's a WIN for the teacher and the student. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

2nd grade celebrated Stuart Roosa Day with a writing activity. Students wrote about the fun adventures they would have if they were astronauts. They included capital letters at the beginning of the sentences and ended with proper pronunciation. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING.....OUR KIDS ARE GOING BANANAS! This is so cool!!! Mrs. Hall is teaching her steam classes to use fruit as a keyboard. I'm serious!! FRUIT AS A KEYBOARD. MaKey MaKey lets you transform everyday objects (we used fruit) into computer keys. Using a programmable circuit board and alligator clips the students were conducting electricity through the apples and bananas. Once connected the fruit became the computer arrows and could be used in any program on their computer. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Here is a sneak peek of what is happening at Catalayah on this Distance Learning Day. Our outstanding IT Department is here to install Promethean Boards for Kindergarten- 3rd grade classes!!! We are so fortunate to have such an AMAZING IT crew. A Promethean Board is a whiteboard that connects to a computer, allowing teachers to project and interact with images on its screen. The teachers were so excited to learn how to use this instructional tool on our DL day; they were ready when the students returned today!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

What is your word for 2022? Mrs. Castle's 3rd-grade class at Catalayah picked a word they want to live by for 2022!!! They chose a word and explained why they decided on it and even told us how they could achieve it!! Mrs. Castle plans to check in with them in a month and see how they are doing with their words. What a great life lesson on living with purpose and goal setting for our students. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The critique boards are just a big color hug!! Mrs. Williams is "SOOOOO excited about her Art II class! They are incredibly hard workers and bursting with creativity and personality!" It's another Distance Learning day; teachers will log on and engage students, thanks to the #CPSZEBRABOND2019 1:1 technology that has been distributed district-wide to all our students. Teachers will be logging on from their homes today and will be available during school hours. It's not the optimum teaching/learning situation, but we are glad to be teaching/learning while keeping our staff and students safe. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
