👏So proud of our students for their determination! ➗Mrs. Collins' second graders had many math challenges to navigate before unlocking the haunted house and receiving the final prize. This is such a fun and creative way to see students challenge themselves academically. 🏆Great job Zebras, hard work pays off! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Let’s welcome Mrs. Shrum to the Zebra family in today’s New Teacher Feature! Mrs. Shrum is a new Kindergarten teacher at Claremont Elementary. She graduated from NSU with a Bachelors of Early Childhood Education. When asked what she likes most about working at Claremore Public Schools, she said “The communication and information presented in a timely manner. It is a very organized district. I have also been welcomed so endearingly into the CPS family. It’s been a very easy transition into a new position.” When asked why she chose teaching, she said, “I teach because I have never remembered a time in my life that I haven’t had a passion for it. I have always known I’ve wanted to be a teacher of little children and have had many mentors and experiences that led me right to that. When I teach, the joy I have in seeing my students create or build on prior knowledge or understand something that they were skeptical of learning is indescribable. I just love being in the classroom and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else in life.” Some interesting facts about Mrs. Shrum are that she is half Asian Indian. Her father came to the states 40 plus years ago and built a family in Chelsea, OK. Some of her favorite hobbies include cooking, running or going on long walks, traveling to and through new places, and going on adventures in the mountains or anywhere by the water. Favorites: 📕: Pride and Prejudice and Pete the Cat 🎥: Any movie with Denzel Washington 🍴: Cheese and almonds 🍭: Peanut butter M&Ms 🥤: Sweet tea 🌈: Purple 📍: The beach 🚩: St. Louis Cardinals baseball 💭: “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” Dr. Seuss #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
