BEFORE GOOGLE... we used a paper-bound dictionary? This skill is still important in a book or online. In 2nd grade students opened the dictionary and discovered the part of speech, pronunciation and definition of words. Words in the dictionary are listed in alphabetical order and grouped by Guide Words found at the top of the page. Take some time to learn a new word and look it up in a dictionary. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Who remembers BizTown? What was your job? Post it in the comments. What is BizTown, you ask? JA BizTown combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. This popular learning experience allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. This was such an amazing experience for Claremont's group of 5th graders - lots of fun and learning was had by all, and our students were even complimented by BizTown staff for how great they were the entire day! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction- right? In Mrs. Hammack's class, students are studying the Laws of Motion. They made cup rockets to show that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

A few motivated NJROTC cadets had the opportunity to influence the next generation by reading to them in small groups at Claremont. What an awesome experience for our cadets and our Kindergarten students. NJROTC is honored and privileged to be able to serve our schools, in many capacities, this was one of our most rewarding experiences. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Congratulations to the Claremore Zebra Tennis teams who won the Metro Lakes Conference tournament yesterday at Pryor. Tanner Steidly and Molly Andrerws finished 1st - #1 Singles. Wade Brasfield and Rhylee Yewell placed 2nd - #2 Singles. Jessie Choplin and Parker Green finished 1st - #1 Doubles and Daley Reynolds and Kinsey Singer finished 1st - #1 Doubles Michael McHugh and Cole Merriman finished 1st - #2 Doubles Fernanda Hernandez and Ella Ramsey finished 1st - #2 Doubles #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

🦷🧚‍♂️ HELP WANTED 🦷🧚‍♂️ Mrs. Page's 1st grade class studied tooth fairies and then applied for the job! Applicants had to answer interview questions, including," Do you take good care of your teeth?" Students wrote out their answers with proper sentence structure explaining why they would be a good Tooth Fairy and signed the applications with a fingerprint. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Baseball or Algebra? Which is more fun? How about both! Students in Mrs. Lohmann's class practiced calculating experimental probability by drafting a baseball team and playing 4 inning games against each other. What a great way to make ALGEBRA fun! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Lewis, at Catalayah, did a fun lesson about density. They made a liquid rainbow using a clear glass jar, honey, dish soap, water, olive oil, rubbing alcohol, food coloring. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

At Monday's Board of Education meeting, members of the board had to privilege to do one of the duties they enjoy most - recognize the accomplishment of CPS students. Swimmers Sylvia Admire and Brenlyn Vickery were recognized for their 6A State Swim Meet performance. Sylvia is the 100 & 200 freestyle STATE CHAMPION. Kai Schultz was recognized for his wrestling STATE RUNNER-UP victory, academic performance with a GPA over 4.0, and 100 win club status. And although the wins are nice, the grit they show, resolve to continue, commitment to excellence, desire to win and motivation to improve they have developed on their way to the "win" that makes us most proud of our student-athletes. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

🎨ART CONTEST🎨 Mrs. Roach entered over 30 pieces of student work into the Young Talent in Oklahoma art contest. Over 600 pieces were entered from all over the state. WRJH had 2 students selected to have their work shown! Way to go Marissa and Maddison. Their work will be displayed at UCO in Edmond. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Mann’s 2nd grade class at Roosa learned about Amelia Earhart. They learned about how she set records and defied boundaries placed on women at that time. They created airplanes using science standards to help make the best possible planes in honor of her bravery! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

CHS Estabrook Memorial Blood Drive is open at the PAC until 7:30p tonight. They are 30 people away from reaching their goal of 200. Swing by and Save A Life! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The power of serving others can bring hope to those serving and those served. CHS NJROTC spent the day packaging food at the Food Bank that will feed 100 local veterans #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Watch...and learn! In 2nd grade, time flies when you’re having fun!! Students at Roosa created watches and then set them to their favorite time of day. The students had to read and record each other’s wristwatches!!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
