We heard your feedback on the need to streamline platforms for communication. Say "hello" to ROOMS located in our mobile app. ONE platform for ALL TEACHERS and COACHES district-wide. No more creating an account on multiple apps for multiple students in the district. You will find it on one app from HS to Pre-K, band to football. CPS Director of Communications, Jamie Brace, takes us to Chicago for her #ZebraTravelDiaries entry. Our #CPSZEBRAPRIDE showed up on Navy Pier, at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion amphitheater in Millennial Park and on an architectural boat tour of the Chicago cityscape. Mrs. Brace was with her twin sister and her daughter, a Claremore alum. If you made a last minute trip before school started there is still time to get your photos in. Remember, it does not matter how far you go - just wear your Zebra logo and send it to [email protected].

The first two rounds of JOM school supply distribution was a success. What is JOM? Johnson O’Malley (JOM) is a federally-funded program that provides supplemental education programs for Native American students attending public schools. Schools receive funds based on the number of Native American students attending Claremore Public Schools. Johnson O’Malley is for any student who can prove Indian blood by submitting a copy of the student’s tribal membership and Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) cards to the Claremore Schools Enrollment Center. Once eligibility is determined through the JOM database, students will be eligible to receive services. Funds must be used to supplement the education of Native American students not supplant. Services offered may include but are not limited to school supplies, graduation caps & gowns, ACT test fees ($30) per student, AP fees ($30) per student, culturally themed events, as well as educational incentives and awards (book fair voucher). Our next JOM school supply distribution will be September 13th from 4p-6p for those who did not pick their packets or any new JOM verified students. More info about JOM and our Indian Ed programs: https://www.claremore.k12.ok.us/page/title-vi-indian-education

We have some family fun in today's #ZebraTravelDiaries. Ellyson (Roosa, 2nd grade) & Emery Prock ( Roosa, 5th grade) traveled to Dauphin Island, AL, for summer vacation! They saw dolphins as they kayaked in the Gulf of Mexico and rode bikes across the island. Their cousin Braden Golden (5th grade Westside) was there, too! Braden will be a 6th grader at WRJH in August. Thanks for being on the #CPSZEBRAPRIDE team!

CPS teachers took part in the OK Donors Choose Grant process earlier this year. Thirty-four teachers at CPS received funding for their proposals, equaling almost $34K in grants. Stephanie Greenland, CHS English teacher, received funding for whiteboards, dry erase markers, pens, three-ring binders, and post-it notes. She will use the whiteboards to practice our grammar skills, sentence structure skills, diagraming, etc., allowing her to receive real-time feedback from her students. This immediate understanding assessment gives her the information she needs to review or move on during instruction. The Post-it notes will be used to take notes during their novel unit, mark quotations, etc. Post-it notes may seem menial, but with 180 students a year, they go through a lot, resulting in a significant financial investment. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
