🌎🖼Mr. Castillo and the World Language Club had the opportunity to visit the Philbrook Museum where they got to see the exposition of the De La Torre Brothers, who are of the Mexican American descent, called Collidoscope: De La Torre Brothers Retro-Perspective! 🖼🌎
Their art is done mainly with blown-glass and resin, and they have a unique style, where they present their view of culture mixed in with humor. It was a great way to see some of the challenges that our society and culture struggle with represented in art. Being able to see and learn from art work that spans centuries old and across the world, allows our students to increase their world point of view and see things from a different perspective! 🦓🌎#CPSZEBRAPRIDE

At the April Board of Education meeting, our board members recognized two wrestlers for their successes. Senior Cameron Braswell was recognized for making the All-State Wrestling Team, and junior Cooper Zickefoose was recognized for being an undefeated State Champion, the FIRST in Claremore's history. Adding a touch of cultural significance to the evening, we were honored to have special guests, Councilor Kevin A. Easley, Jr.- Cherokee Nation District 14 and Councilor Joe Deere CN Gadusi, join us. To recognize Cooper Zickefoose's achievements, they honored him with a traditional Cherokee blanket ceremony, a symbol of honor deeply rooted in Cherokee culture. Congratulations to these athletes, and we cannot wait to see your continued success!🦓♥💪🏽 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Twisting, turning, and learning! Who knew biology could be so fun? 🧬💡
Ms. Golbek's high school AP Biology class is hard at work learning about protein folding. Protein folding is a complex process where a linear chain of amino acids folds into a specific three-dimensional structure, essential for its function. This hands-on activity provides students with a tangible representation of protein folding, helping to reinforce key concepts in gene expression. By manipulating pipe cleaners and beads to mimic the folding process, students gained a deeper understanding of how amino acid characteristics such as polarity and charge determine protein structure and function! 🦓👩🔬

💡🏥 In collaboration with Hillcrest Claremore Hospital, The Biomedical Innovations & Technology class at Claremore High School has been visiting Hillcrest Hospital as part of their program! 🏥💡
We extend a huge thank you to Jason Jones, CEO and Melissa Ayers, BSN, RN, - for providing a program of study and immersion for the Biomed students to get a first-hand view of how hospitals function and the vital roles of the careers within them. 🧪❤
These visits have including a wide variety of information, fully exposing our students to the hospital system as a whole. First, they had a tour of the Emergency Department with an immersive discussion with the ER staff on how the department functions during emergencies. Along with this, students viewed a detailed presentation of nursing professions by Melissa Ayers (BSN, RN, Clinical Education Coordinator). The students then had the opportunity to tour the Pharmacy and discuss procedures and best practices with the hospital pharmacist. In their most recent visit, students attended lectures and completed activities with the Infection Control Nurse while exploring other Infection Prevention Professions. In their future visit, they will receive a tour of the Diagnostic Imaging center, and a lecture from the Director of Quality addressing potential issues to look out for and other Quality Control professions. We are thankful for the partnership with Hillcrest Hospital that allows us to further stimulate the imagination of our Biomed students and introduce them to the many healthcare opportunities located within our healthcare systems! 👩🔬🦓
