The Salcidos are "monkeying around" in Punta Cana in their #CPSZEBRAPRIDE in today's #ZebraTravelDiaries.
Kaden will be a freshman and plays tennis; Kyla just graduated and is heading to Coffeyville on a volleyball scholarship at the end of July. Mrs. Salcido just finished her 5th year at Catalayah and although she's enjoying her vacation, she misses her little monkeys at school.

This summer, they traveled to California and visited CalTech's Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL), an extension of NASA. Their tour was led by Alivia's Uncle Aaron, who is one of the engineers on the rover Perseverance team. The rover landed on Mars in 2020.

CPS offers art from K - 12th grade.
Here some of our elementary students are trying oil pastels for the first time. They are an excellent choice for beginners with zero painting experience. Oil pastels are soft, oily compositions that make oil pastels great for blending. They are perfect tools to unleash your imagination and creativity.

CPS teachers took part in the OK Donors Choose Grant process earlier this year. Thirty-four teachers at CPS received funding for their proposals, equaling almost $34K in grants.
Sarah Brunjes Hall, a teacher at WRJH, received funding for a printmaking press and paper, which will allow her to teach printmaking to my art students.
Printmaking encourages both creativity and expression. This addition will benefit my classes by teaching students a method of artmaking that is both sophisticated and open-ended. This art form will be an essential addition to the 2D art methods taught at the junior high level.
"My goal is to continue exposing my students to various art methods and materials. The patience and thinking necessary to create successful art pieces are important no matter what my students choose for their future careers. I hope to give my students a broad range of exposure to the arts in hopes that it will kindle a further inquiry as they mature both as makers of art and adults who appreciate art in all forms," she added.

That is the amount of scholarship money the Class of 2022 reported receiving this year. Over the next few weeks, we will celebrate those who received scholarships from our CPS partners who have invested in the future of our students.
Congratulations to Kaitlyn Lane, who won the $1,000 RCB Scholarship.
RCB Bank Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Claremore High School pursuing an education at an Oklahoma four-year college or university and is based on academic achievement, financial need, and demonstrated community service.
The scholarship is funded as a token of RCB's appreciation for the extraordinary efforts students endure to better themselves while also positively influencing others. RCB Bank is deeply rooted in its commitment to Claremore – proudly serving the community since 1936.
