Today history was made! The Claremore Public Schools Foundation had tremendous success with the District Grant Patrol celebration! Today marked a milestone as they proudly gave a remarkable $60,012.62 in grants to CPS's dedicated educators.🎉 The highlight of the occasion was setting a new CPSF record by awarding the largest grant ever of $26,623.85 to the Will Rogers Junior High Arts department! Campbell Crum, a CHS junior, recently achieved near-perfection on the PSAT, following an impressive ACT score of 35 as a sophomore. He shared insights into his study methods, diverse extracurricular involvements, and reflections on his exceptional academic achievements. "When preparing, I'd take multiple practice tests, learn from mistakes, and credit my teachers for a well-rounded education," Campbell revealed. "The main thing that set me up, though, were my classes at the high school with teachers dedicated to my success and block scheduling, which allowed me to take a diverse class load and gave me a well-rounded knowledge of core subjects." Besides academics, Campbell participates in the math club, academic bowl, Young Democrats, and the Dinosaur Club. He serves as SkillsUSA Oklahoma's secondary vice-president through Northeast Tech's Pre-Engineering program. Receiving his outstanding test results was surreal for Campbell. "It was almost like an out-of-body experience," he recalled. "The one word that comes to mind is surreal. I thought Dr. Hindenburg was playing some cruel joke on me." At Westside, Mrs. Barbee’s kindergarten class is part of a super fun project that reaches across all of the United States! They are participating in a great Letter Exchange. Her class decorated lots of the letter G to share about and then mail to kindergartners across the country. In return, Mrs. Barbee’s class receives letters as well! So far they have received letters from Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania & others all while more letters are arriving daily! What an awesome project to not only learn about letters & maps but to truly connect with other children across the United States!! 🙌🏽❤️🦓🗺 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

When the Tulsa Zoo's clever critter crew swooped into Roosa to visit the second grade, the kids were utterly "fur-mazed" by the lessons on animal coats and sneaky camouflage tricks! But the highlight that truly "owl-laminated" their day? Meeting their adorable little barn owl pal! These furry-tailed tales aren't just a hoot; they're an important lesson nestling into young minds about the wonders of our animal friends. Tyler Thrasher, a local artist from Tulsa, visited our CHS students today. Tyler is known for creating chemically crystallized skeletons of animals and insects, as well as glow-in-the-dark plants.🔬🌿 Tyler talked to our students about his processes which merge science and art to create these one-of-a-kind pieces. He also talked to our students about creative career paths after high school and creating a career out of your passion! Students had an engaging interaction and left feeling inspired. At Westside, in honor of Native American Heritage Month, Ms. Palmer presented about her tribe, the Osage, for the entire 3rd grade. At Westside, Mrs. James had fun activities going on in computers incorporating science, engineering & design! Her STEM stars made helicopters from paper! Students wrote hypotheses on how the helicopters would fall/fly; they predicted what would happen if they changed the design and recorded their findings!
