The National Night Out Back to School Bash event scheduled for August 1st, presented by the Claremore Police Dept. (CPD) and Healthy Community Partnership, has been postponed. Due to the high temperatures forecasted for this week, they have decided to reschedule this year’s event to October 3rd. The plan is to have the same event with an expectation of cooler temperatures. Today's #ZebraTraveIDiaries entry is coming in from Colorado & New Mexico! Kenlee Walker went with family to ride the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad from Colorado to New Mexico. 🚂
The railway is 64 miles long. It is one of the longest and highest authentic steam railroads in North America. The highest elevation it reaches is 10.015 feet, and it crosses the Colorado-New Mexico border 11 times.
Her family has a long history as Zebras, with her grandfather being a graduate of the class of 1972 and his grandfather before him who graduated in 1950. His grandfather worked on the rail line that the Cumbres & Toltec train uses today.🚂❤🦓

These young Zebras have been hard at work this summer, and it has paid off! Rhett Shackelford, Gus Boyer, Camden Kimblern, and Brody Davis were asked to join a U10 lacrosse team to play in the Middle of the Map tournament in Olathe, KS… the boys went and competed hard against teams from Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas! They came home Champions! 🦓🥇🥍

CLASS OF 2024 - SENIOR SUNRISE
☀On August 17th, while many of us are still in bed, the Class of 2024 will gather at Lantow Field at 6:20AM to watch the sunrise. It is a way to symbolize the class of seniors starting their last year together. It is the "first" of many "last" events they will share this year. At the end of the year, they will share their final sunset during their graduation ceremony on Lantow Field. 🍩Donuts and drinks will be provided.

Over at Westside Elementary, Mr. McClurg is completely revamping his art room for the students to come in inspired!! He is freehand painting a graffiti-style mural with Great Expectation life principle words on the wall! 🙌🏽🎨👨🏻🎨 WOW! Claremore train vibes in the art room & we are here for it! 🚂🛤️

Today's #ZebraTravelDiaries features Marilyn Lewis, an Algebra Teacher at Claremore High School, and her daughter, Natalie Lewis, CHS Alumni! They went to Pikes Peak elevation of 14,114 ft. and made it to the top! She said, "It is definitely a different world up there"! It was starting to snow in July! She also met Dennis, the walking Emu!

Lisa Luce, our Incumberance Clerk, and Sonya Eckert, a 5th-grade teacher at Westside, went to Taiwan in June on a missions trip with their church. They went to schools, a hospital, and churches where they did puppet shows and skits telling kids about God. They also got to teach people how to make American desserts!🍰🦓❤✈
