Let’s welcome Craig DeLammermore to the Zebra family in today’s New Teacher Feature! Mr. DeLammermore is a new elementary music teacher at Catalayah Elementary School. He graduated from the University of Tulsa with a Bachelors in Music Education. When asked what he likes most about working at Claremore Public Schools, he said “Claremore is where I grew up; the opportunity to teach here is a dream come true, and I’m thankful for the opportunity. Everyone at Claremore has been so welcoming and helpful every step of the way.” When asked why he teaches, he said “I struggled in school. I teach because I can relate to students who are like me that might need a teacher who can view things from a different lens.” Some interesting facts about Mr. DeLammermore are he enjoys watching esports and traditional sports, he will only go watch comedy movies, and he received a string bass scholarship to the University of Tulsa. Some of his favorite hobbies include spending time with family, being outside, crochet and video games. Huge congratulations to Miss Pachia Xiong for winning the competition to design a new Westside school shirt! Many students utilized their art time to format and develop a creation that represents our school. The judges were impressed with all of the incredible submissions and felt that Pachia's best exemplified Westside spirit. Let’s welcome Kristina Wimberly to the Zebra family in today’s New Teacher Feature! Mrs. Wimberly is a new special education teacher at Claremont Elementary. She graduated from NSU with a Bachelors of Science and is currently working on her Masters of Education: Autism Spectrum Disorders at NSU. When asked what she likes most about working at Claremore Public Schools, she said “I love how welcome I have felt since day one! I also love and am excited about being part of a Great Expectations school!” When asked why she teaches, Mrs. Wimberly said “I want to help children with disabilities to know that they are capable, help them with building self-confidence, and watch them flourish. My “why” is both simple and elaborate - I love when the students finally have that “aha!” moment, and the little moments and the victories that make it all worth it!” Some interesting facts about Mrs. Wimberly are that although she has never lived in Claremore, she and her daughter were both born here in the same hospital! She has also helped with Special Olympics, tutoring, volunteering at an animal shelter, and various other school activities. Some of her favorite hobbies include hiking, reading, writing and spending time with friends and family. Fundraiser Rewards!!! Catalyah students sold nearly 17,000 meat sticks!! Mrs. Shuck and Mrs. McComb took the 12 kids that sold the most to the park for a pizza picnic. They had the best weather and the best time! Mrs. Lewis also had an ice cream party for the rest of the top sellers. They got to enjoy some time out of class and a little free time with friends!!! Congrats Catalayah on such a great fundraiser!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Let’s welcome Deborah Simpson to the Zebra family in today’s New Teacher Feature! Mrs. Simpson is a new 3rd-5th grade resource teacher at Catalayah. She received her Bachelor of Arts from ORU, Masters of Education from NSU and Doctorate of Educational Leadership ABD from OSU. When asked what she likes most about working at Claremore Public Schools, she said “It’s commitment to ALL learners.” Mrs. Simpson teaches because she loves children and sharing her love of learning with them. She chose to teach at CPS because “It offers a quality education and is part of a caring community.” Some interesting facts about Mrs. Simpson are that she has been married for 37 years and has four children. Some of her hobbies include reading, traveling, puzzles and crafts. Let’s welcome Leora Youngs to the Zebra family in today’s New Teacher Feature! Mrs. Youngs is a 3rd-grade teacher at Roosa Elementary. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Law. When asked what she likes most about working at Claremore Public Schools, she said “CPS is such a welcoming school system. My family moved here 23 years ago mid-school year. The school welcomed us with open arms. I stepped out of teaching for a while and am returning this year. CPS has welcomed me back like I never left, talk about encouragement! CPS encourages everyone!” Some interesting facts about Mrs. Youngs are that she loves reading, swimming activities, and serving at her church. She was also born in England and has one dog named Gibson. Out with the old and in with the NEW! In a joint effort between the high school and junior high visual arts programs, they have a brand new kiln. The kiln will allow our teachers to introduce clay projects into our programs. Future projects will include pottery, coil pots, clay jewelry, sculptures, and hand built pottery. This purchase was made possible through a Claremore Public School Foundation grant. Thank you to the community for investing in CPSF and the CPSF committee for funding this request. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
