Last year Mrs. Stolusky's used an ant farm to help to instill a sense of responsibility in children. They have to feed and water their ant pets every day. In return, kids can watch the fascinating way ants interact with their environment.

Eighth grader Kale Shultz just went to India and Finland in today's #ZebraTravelDiaries. He represented #CPSZEBRAPRIDE and the USA as part of a wrestling team that spent two weeks training and competing in traditional Indian wrestling called Kushti.

Asher, a second grader at Catalayah Elementary, is showing off his #CPSZebraPride in Virginia Beach, VA in our #ZebraTravelDiaries. While there enjoyed seeing the US Navy ships and the beach.
CPS teachers took part in the OK Donors Choose Grant process earlier this year. Thirty-four teachers at CPS received funding for their proposals, equaling almost $34K in grants to enrich the education of Zebra scholars.
Mrs. Kropp also received funding for a STEM Connection for Science. Students had to develop a model using an example to describe a scientific principle. Earth's Gravitational Forces - A rocket stands on a launch pad before the rocket boosters ignite and exert energy to push the rocket into the atmosphere and space. Earth's gravity pushes against the rocket, making it fall back to Earth. We used plastic cups as the rocket and the rocket launch pad; rubber bands were the rocket fuel that pushed our cup rockets into the air. They also had to decorate and name the rockets.
Now that's a project that is out of this world! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Dr. Kenny Hindenburg, CHS Principal, is showing off his family and his #CPSZEBRAPRIDE in today's #ZebraTravelDiaries. The Hindenburg family found their zeal at Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, MO. Asher is unsure about that bear behind him at the Wonders of Wildlife Museum. Good think his momma bear and baby bear are looking out for him.

We have a dazzle of zebras in today's #ZebraTravelDiaries. Beaver Lake in Arkansas was full of #CPSZEBRAPRIDE! Aaliyah Carter, Alayna Eberley and Kaylee Phillips will be 6th graders at WRJH. Brecken Eberley will be a 1st grader at Westside Elementary.
Our Pre K students are having a ball walking, running, jumping, climbing, and balancing into Kindergarten.

CLASS OF 2023 - SENIOR SUNRISE
At the beginning of the year, all CHS seniors are invited to wake up extra early and gather to watch the sunrise together. It is a way to symbolize the class of seniors starting their last year together. It is the first of many "last" events they will share this year. On August 18th, while many of us are still in bed, the Class of 2023 will gather at Lantow Field at 6:15AM.

At the end of the year they will share their final sunset together during their graduation ceremony on Lantow Field.

Today's #ZebraTravelDiaries is Mrs. Melynee Naegele, a Mathematics Specialist at Will Rogers Junior High. She and her husband visited Sanibel Island and Key Largo to celebrate our 37th anniversary. While there, they enjoyed the beaches and shelling.
Mrs. Naegele, admits she's not much of a swimmer but used her growth mindset and pushed herself to adventure beyond her comfort zone to snorkel the protected coral reefs.

Reading books and building together will encourage meaningful relationships and engage students in a positive classroom community. Crystal Galvan, a teacher at Catalayah, purchased children's books on working cooperatively, building relationships and overcoming adversities. She also bought STEM building kits with her Donors Choose grant.
