Gracie Roberts, a senior at Claremore High School, found her musical passion rooted in her upbringing. Singing sessions with her mom and tunes from Natalie Cole, Carrie Underwood, and Taylor Swift shaped her love for music. Inspired by older sopranos in the choir, she aimed to emulate their style while drawing inspiration from her mom's passion and her grandmother's musical talent.
Participating in Claremore Public School’s music programs taught Gracie the rewards of hard work and the importance of singing with energy and passion. While her voice is her primary instrument, she can also play piano and guitar. Gracie has been involved in various choirs at CHS, with Room 701 Vocal Jazz being her favorite. She shared that the friendships and bonds she has made are the most impactful in her life.
Her achievements include being part of the NCDA All-District Choir and OkMEA All-State Choir for four years and earning superior ratings at Solo and Ensemble competitions, and participating in 2 of CHS's musicals. Gracie will pursue a career as a mechanical engineer and work within the aerospace or biomedical industry, but music will always be significant in Gracie's life. Her favorite aspect of music programs is the camaraderie and deep connections formed with fellow performers, making choir a place for meaningful friendships and shared experiences.🎼🦓🎙 #cpszebrapride

Jaclyn Broadbent, a senior at Claremore High School, finds solace and freedom in expressing herself through art. Inspired by her best friend Abby, her family, and the diverse tapestry of humanity, Jaclyn values the richness of inspiration around her. Engaging in art programs at CHS has taught her fundamental principles and how to weave coherence into seemingly chaotic pieces. Proficient in various mediums such as collages, scratch art, watercolor, acrylic, and pastels, Jaclyn's creativity knows no bounds.🎨🦓
Beyond her artistic pursuits, she wants to go into childcare, recognizing the importance of fostering creativity in young minds. Notable among her achievements is writing and illustrating a children's book, which garnered recognition in a Children's Literature Competition. Jaclyn envisions a career in Early Childhood Development, where she believes in embracing children's "process art" to nurture their innate creativity.
Her fondest memory of art programs is witnessing others' unique expressions and understanding the profound language of creativity beyond words. For Jaclyn, art isn't just a hobby; it's a gateway to connection, expression, and the exploration of the human spirit. Her main takeaway is that she has learned the importance of the basic principles of art and how to bring a sense of cohesiveness to an art piece, even though it might be messy.🎨🦓❤ #cpszebrapride

Gabriel Sorrels, a senior at Claremore High School and member of the Claremore Band, found his passion in music. Music is a constant companion for Gabriel, from childhood car sing-alongs to navigating heartbreaks. Gabriel has delved into percussion, jazz, piano, and trombone, finding his inspiration from the greats like Art Blakey and John Mackey, as well as his jazz instructor, Mr. Smith, and lessons teacher, Mr. Toumayan. In his free time, he also composes and writes his own music.
His journey in music is marked by discipline and achievements, such as being a two-time NBDA member, GCBDA Jazz Drummer, and ZFE Member of the Year 2022-2023. He has led and excelled as Drum Captain and a Superior State Soloist, but his aspirations extend beyond personal accolades. Gabriel plans to pursue a career in music education with a Bachelor's in Music Education and a Master's in Music Performance. He will use his degrees to advocate for musical accessibility and education to be more available in underprivileged communities. As a senior, he spends part of his day at Will Rogers Junior High, teaching the students and developing their passion for music. One of Gabriel's favorite memories includes marching in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, meeting the band Foreigner, and soaking in New York City.
Students like Gabriel showcase the many benefits of music in education. In honor of Music in Education Month, we are celebrating by featuring our students who have found and developed their passions. Music in education fosters discipline, creativity, and community, shaping musicians and well-rounded individuals ready to create and contribute artistically to society.🎼🥁🦓 #cpszebrapride
Claremont and Roosa Elementary have had afterschool STEM and STEAM clubs that our students love for several years. These programs foster our young Zebras' scientific, technological, mathematical, and engineering minds! 👩🔬🦓
Recently, Claremont and Roosa were awarded a grant through our amazing CPS foundation which gave our 5th graders the opportunity to merge their STEM experience with an after school robotics program!
They meet weekly at their own schools, but recently had the great fortune of visiting the CHS STEM building where Roosa and Claremont worked side by side with each other AND some our award winning CHS robotics teams! 🤖🧪
This is just another way our Claremore Public Schools' Zebra Family is great; the way we come together to support one another is absolutely unmatched! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE 🦓❤

Catalayah's very own Mr. D and the 3rd grade teachers took their students to Owasso for Link Up! 🎶🦓
Link Up is an educational resource that introduces students in grades 3–5 to the orchestra through an interactive curriculum. Students learn to sing and play an instrument in the classroom before performing with a professional orchestra in their community.
Our 3rd graders performed 5 songs with the Tulsa symphony Orchestra; 2 on recorder, 2 singing, and one with rhythmic clapping.
They did such a great job and had a blast, all while repping their #CPSZEBRAPRIDE!!

Our Claremore Zebra Golfers are dominating the greens! The boys' team has secured three first-place finishes back to back, and our girls' team has secured their first-place finish! Way to go, Zebras!💪🏽⛳🦓 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
