CPS will be closed on Monday, September 4th, in honor of the Labor Day holiday. Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers.  It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.  This weekend, as we spend time with our families and friends, celebrate the value of an honest day’s work, the people who built America, and our nation’s advancements because of the American labor force.  #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Our Lady Zebras Volleyball team claimed the gold at home court winning the Claremore Varsity Invitational. They are now sitting at 17-3 on the season!🏐🦓🏆💪🏼 Three players were voted to the all-tournament team (the top 10 players at the tournament were voted on by all of the coaches). CHS or CSI?🧪🔬🔎 Claremore High School’s Bio-Med class is investigating a mysterious incident for their assignment! Mr. Riggs has set up a crime scene for students to investigate. He put numbered cards on a taped-out body with a piece of evidence by them. He will show his students how to answer what happened to the victim and how. Students will do a variety of tests from blood to a polygraph. This activity will help students better understand if the forensic science route is for them. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

At Westside Elementary, Miss Taber & her 4th graders have been practicing their writing skills and gratitude. She had her students do a Thankful Thursday assignment. Students utilized their writing skills and wrote about people they feel thankful for & then shared why they feel grateful for those people! Mrs. Sanders' sweet first graders have been working with blocks, getting creative while also using pattern-building skills! Incorporating pattern blocks into a first-grade curriculum can foster spatial awareness, enhance problem-solving skills, and provide an enjoyable way to explore mathematical concepts, all while having fun!🦓🧠 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Brantley's classes over at Roosa are starting off the year with a challenge of their own! Janna Ragland our Director of Child Nutrition and her son Conner, a CHS Sophomore, went on a Carnival Cruise to Costa Maya, Belize, and Cozumel and finished the trip with a Houston Astros Baseball game! ‼ REMINDER - EARLY RELEASE = PLC MEETINGS FOR TEACHERS 📅 Begins August 25th Dismissal 🕑Elementary- 2:00p 🕝Secondary - 2:30p Early release for our kids means meeting time for our teachers. This time is excellent for lesson planning, district meetings, and sharing ideas with our teacher friends across the district. Professional learning communities (PLCs) are a collaborative approach to professional development. Small groups of educators meet regularly to explore new concepts, share expertise and insights from their teaching experiences, and engage in collective problem-solving. We are lucky we have this time and the technology to meet with teachers from all over the district to maximize our time together. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Catalayah Elementary has a new partner in education… Red Crown Federal Credit Union! Red Crown Federal Credit Union has partnered with Catalayah for the most amazing year yet! They have already made such a difference on the campus and it is only the beginning! They completely redid the flower beds and purchased new mulch for the flower beds, check out the before and after pics! Be the “I” in kind. What a simple, but powerful concept! Over at Westside teachers gather and worked together to lead this meaningful and fun group project. All staff members got to get into some paint to leave their mark on this one! Every single staff member from teachers, custodians, instructional assistants, cafeteria staff, and principals at all of our sites plays a part and have a hand in helping students in becoming their best selves & finding personal success. This was represented through this project and we just love it!! We love seeing Westside showcase kindness and have a reminder for all students going into the new year!
