Let’s welcome Mr. Jermaine Lyles to the Zebra family in today’s New Teacher Feature! Mr. Jermaine Lyles is a history teacher at Will Rogers Junior High. He graduated from Langston University with a Bachelor's in Corrections. This is his first year teaching! When asked what he likes best about Claremore Public Schools, he shared, “It is the community-supported school district.” He chose teaching because “There is no better sight than seeing the lightbulb moment when a student grasps the concept.” Mr. Lyles enjoys writing, powerlifting, and theater! What better way to get into the fall spirit than pumpkin projects?🍂🎃🍂 Over at Westside, Mrs. Johnson's class created all things pumpkin, just in time for fall break! Her students created their own string art pumpkins and upcycled & painted old books to create fall-inspired 3D paper pumpkins. Mrs. Rahn’s class has studied the sun and prepared for the Annular Eclipse. An Annular Eclipse is when the moon does not cover the entire disc of the sun so that a ring of sunlight surrounds the shadow of the moon. 🌒 They had a "front-row seat" for the Eclipse that occurred on Saturday, October 14th. Students made their own solar eclipse pinhole viewers for the eclipse and tried to view sunspots on the Sun Spotter. 🕶🌞🌑 Did you see the Annular Eclipse? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
