Have you ever wondered why we have P.E. (Physical Education) in our school?
Physical education provides cognitive content and instruction designed to develop motor skills, knowledge, physical activity and fitness behaviors—students build the ability and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime.
It also allows students to get the "wiggles" out and helps them concentrate in the classroom.

Also on his resume are AP classes, Christian Club, FCA, and Red Army. The connections he built will be one of his most memorable over the years as a Zebra, sharing, "Just being around other people that fully enjoy the same activity I do and becoming friends with shared interests." The teachers who have helped push me through the classes he's taken and made sure he was okay when they saw him looking down.
Mrs. Peck has been at Claremore Public Schools for 17 years and is currently a 1st-grade teacher at Claremont. Zebra family, the WRJH Girls STEM club, needs your help! They need you to give their video Claremore Will Rogers Flyers a “like” (👍) on their YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/4mcrUCmKicU
More about the project - What is Speedfest?
It is an event put on by Oklahoma State University through aerospace engineering for college, high school, and middle school students. Students in the high/middle school level build RC (remote control) planes to compete in a competition with other schools.
Seven WRJH girls spent time after-school in the Fall learning the principles of flight, aerodynamics, etc., to gain the background knowledge needed to build the plane. Since February, the girls have been building the aircraft, designing helmets (hard hats), and this video.
Thank you to Will Rogers Memorial for letting them use pictures and videos from the memorial to produce this video.

Roosa's Native American Club members are working on a basket weaving project. The process has several steps and it is time-consuming. The students cut 11 pieces of reed (spokes) 10 inches long and soaks the reeds before weaving. The soaked reed is inserted into the drilled plywood base. Bringing one spoke over the other until all the spokes are secure. Once that is complete, they start weaving the baskets. They get a long piece of reed and weave it in and out through each spoke until they come to an end, then start over. Midway up the basket, they can insert beads if desired. The process continues until they get to the top of the basket. The basket must stay wet throughout the entire process to weave the reed.

Westside Elementary hosted a Miles of Change coin drive with the help of their PTO. Students brought in an astounding 216 pounds of change! It totaled somewhere around $1,900!
After collecting change, the PTO and some 4th and 5th graders laid out 1/4 of a mile worth of change and calculated the number of coins it would take to fill a WHOLE mile. (Our AMAZING students helped with the math!) It took 23,469 coins for 1/4 of a mile and would take around 93,876 coins for a whole mile!
This project was a fun way to give students a real-life experience to connect to their classroom instruction. Thanks to PTO for all their collaboration and efforts in this project and all they do for our school. The coin drive is sure to bring miles of change to our school.
*Congratulations to our winning wings..... 2nd and 3rd grade!
