In Music, the students learn to play the xylophone and boom whackers. A xylophone is a musical instrument with wooden bars; mallets hit the bars to make a sound. Boom whackers are tubes that supplement the xylophone and make a sound when hit on the floor. Students used these instruments to learn about the pentatonic scale chords and to balance an ensemble sound. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The CHS and WRJH TSA members stopped by Roosa to lead the 5th grade in a STEM project. The students separated into groups of two. Each group made a bridge that had to hold weight. The groups used only popsicle sticks, masking tape, and a bowl. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Learning is messy! In Mr. Gregg's class, students build volcanoes to wrap up their lesson on Plate Tectonics. Students were able to erupt their volcanoes multiple times, each time adding a layer of 'lava' where it exploded. Students were so engaged they asked permission to take photos & videos of their volcano erupting. Every time they show someone their photos, they will be reinforcing what they learned in class. That's a WIN for the teacher and the student. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING.....OUR KIDS ARE GOING BANANAS! This is so cool!!! Mrs. Hall is teaching her steam classes to use fruit as a keyboard. I'm serious!! FRUIT AS A KEYBOARD. MaKey MaKey lets you transform everyday objects (we used fruit) into computer keys. Using a programmable circuit board and alligator clips the students were conducting electricity through the apples and bananas. Once connected the fruit became the computer arrows and could be used in any program on their computer. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
