CHS's DRUG-FREE LOOKS LIKE ME theme today was "Anything But Drugs," and to get their point across, students had to bring all their school books & supplies in "anything but a backpack."
Check out their creativity!
Wednesday's theme: "Get Rid of Those Drugs" - Wear something that makes someone say, "Why is THAT in your closet."

Before introducing slope, Mrs. Litterell's class did a ball drop activity to engage her student's curiosity about the subject. This learning activity allows students to discover through experiments what slope means and how to find it. Students will better understand slope after performing the ball drop activity.
Ball Drop 1: Camden and Blake
Ball Drop 2: Evan
Ball Drop 3: Evan and Dillan

Expectation #4 says, "We will cheer each other to success."
As you can see, our kindergarten students take this expectation seriously, as they cheer each other on, on the playground monkey bars!

PE had fun playing Sink the Ship - Four ships adventure into the gym with their flotation devices or plastic bowling pins. Cannons are all over the place, or students are on rolling boards equipped with canons or balls. Now they try to Sink the Ship! Students used hand-eye coordination and skill to Sink the Ship or Stay Afloat!

School Bus Safety Week is coming to an end but school bus safety continues to be important every day. Our transportation staff reminds us how to safely exit the bus. Please review these steps with your children.
βΆ https://youtu.be/6NIA297Hq60
π When the bus approaches, stand at least three giant steps (6 feet) away from the curb, and line up away from the street.
π Wait until the bus stops, the door opens, and the driver says that itβs okay before stepping onto the bus.
π If you have to cross the street in front of the bus, walk on the sidewalk or along the side of the road to a point at least five giant steps (10 feet) ahead of the bus before you cross. Be sure that the bus driver can see you, and you can see the bus driver.
π Use the handrails to avoid falls. When exiting the bus, be careful that clothing with drawstrings and book bags with straps donβt get caught in the handrails or doors.
π Never walk behind the bus.
π Walk at least three giant steps away from the side of the bus.
π If you drop something near the bus, tell the bus driver. Never try to pick it up because the driver may not be able to see you.

Miss Bart's 5th grade math class had a "Safari Restaurant," giving the student a real-life situation to practice adding decimals. Students were given menus with prices. They had to plan out their meal by adding all items, including tax and a tip. They then determine how much change they were to receive. The lesson ended with actual snacks.

Itβs Bus Safety Week and the CPS Transportation Department is introducing their staff and additional safety service for all of our buses - GPS! This technology has been added to all their buses and is now connected to the Stopfinder App which will allow families to get real-time information concerning the bus their child is on.

Our neighboring church, First Claremore, is always willing to support our school community. Their generosity to our teachers, students, and families has afforded our school a replacement laminator.
Thank you to the church and to those who attend who have invested in Claremont. You can be sure that teachers all over the building rejoiced - a working laminator is a BIG deal!
