Mrs. Shelby Campbell’s 3rd grade WIN group wrote persuasive letters to Mrs. Hinds & Mrs. Ratcliff making requests to improve Westside - one big request from the kids was soccer nets for our goals. 🥅🦓⚽️ We reached out to Coach Derek Larkin and the RSU Men’s Soccer team. They generously donated and installed soccer nets for our playground goals!! ❤️⚽️💙 The RSU soccer team then came to Westside, met our 3rd grade persuasive letter writers and ✍🏽signed autographs. What an incredible gift, Westside is so grateful for RSU Hillcats!! ❤️🦓⚽️💙 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

👨‍🍳Look out, Gordon Ramsay... Landon Wheat has been named the winner of the CPS Sudexo Future Chef Competition! Landon (1st grader)represented Claremont with a recipe for cheesy cauliflower tots with zesty yogurt dip. Landon will represent CPS at the regional competition, next. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Teaching these skills increases students' independence, improves social skills, creates greater self-esteem and improves the quality of life. Students in Mrs. Schaub's class continue to learn life skills including grocery shopping, one of their favorite activities, and office skills (classroom jobs). #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Boys golf team started the season off finishing Second place as a team. The boys had a team score of 340. Yesterday was International Women’s Day and Catalayah celebrated several amazing women in their school!❤️🖤❤️ Each student chose an amazing woman that has made a difference in their life. Then they wrote them a nice note and gave them a sweet treat! THIS IS OUR WHY!

How do you beat an Oreo? March 6th was National Oreo Cookie Day and Mrs. Ward’s class celebrated by eating Oreos and writing about it! They used the transition words first, then, and last to describe how they like to eat an Oreo! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

CHS Girls Golf ⛳️🦓team placed 3rd at the Skiatook Invitational. 🥉Hadley Abraham placed 3rd overall and 🏅Annabelle Vanaman placed 5th. Way to start the season off! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Technology makes our world smaller and our gives our students more opportunities to learn directly from authors, astronauts, and animal lovers. Kindergarten had the privilege of meeting author Laureanna Raymond-Duvernell, author of Under in the Mud in a virtual author visit! Students loved hearing the book read aloud by the author and learning about the little "secrets" embedded in the illustrations! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Clemons, one of our amazing volunteers, helped the kindergarten class plant clover. The students cannot wait to see how the plants grow over the next several weeks. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

🎶Chop it like it’s hot. Chop it like it’s hot. Chop it like it’s hot. It’s never too early to start teaching students how to make healthy food choices, master basic cooking skills and engage in a little friendly competition. Sodexo Schools has spent the last decade helping students practice their culinary skills through the Future Chefs Challenge. Each of these Zebra finalists will move to the district competition this Tuesday. Students submitted recipes for a fruit or vegetable side dish at the district level. On Tuesday the students will prepare the dish with the assistance of a Sodexo employee. The recipes will be judged on taste, healthiness, kid friendliness, originality, ease of preparation, plate presentation and student chef presentations to the judges. The winner at each district then moves on to a regional round with others across the nation. One winner is chosen at the end of the contest and named the National Champion. Congratulations to our site winners: Landon, Claremont; Ruby, Blake, and Olivia, Catalayah; Elianna, Roosa; and Gunner, Westside #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Fourth grade students modeled incredible teamwork while researching natural disasters. Not only did they work together to research, but they also created a script to report their findings in a newscast format. Ms. Palmer filmed their broadcasts as they presented so they could look back on them and evaluate their public speaking skills. Remember Spring Break begins on FRIDAY, March 10th, this year. All CPS offices and campuses will be closed from Friday, March 10th through Friday, March 17th. Relax - read a book…for fun, play a board game, put together a puzzle, paint a picture, have a family meal; whatever you do MAKE A MEMORY. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

👬👭Westie Besties were all hands on deck for Read Across America week reading. Here the 5th graders are teamed up with the 1st graders.
