👋Let’s welcome Liz Campbell to the Zebra family in today’s New Teacher Feature! 👩‍🏫Ms. Campbell is a new Kindergarten Special Education teacher at Westside Elementary! She graduated from NSU and has been teaching since 2007. 👍When asked what she likes most about working at Claremore Public Schools, she said, “I love that CPS has amazing teachers who care about their student's success and wellbeing, this is a great team of educators!” ♥When asked why she teaches, she said, “Teaching is a calling. I knew from the time I was a teenager that I loved working with kids. I teach because I love fostering the natural curiosity of children and watching their faces light up when they grasp a new concept or master something that has challenged them. Teaching is about more than math, reading, social studies, etc. It is also about helping our students learn compassion, kindness, integrity and many other important life principles that will help them be the best citizens they can be.” ‼Some interesting facts about Ms. Campbell are that she plays the violin and she is learning to play the ukulele. Some of her favorite hobbies include playing music, singing, hiking, reading and spending time with family! CPS Board of Education recognizes Hannah Dorsey for her exceptional performance on the volleyball court! Hannah was named as 1/10 players to the All State Large East Team. The All State games will be played in the summer of 2023. She was also selected to the All Conference 1st team. As a senior she has racked up 🏐71 aces 🏐90 kills 🏐17 blocks 🏐355 assists 🏐178 digs Congratulations Hannah. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Claremore NJROTC is building the future of military service - honoring those who serve or served. Their program mission is to instill in students in educational institutions the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. The NJROTC Corps of Cadets were in high demand for Veterans Day celebrations. Representing #CPSZEBRAPRIDE and USA they honored those who serve and those who have served performing a Color Guard and Armed Rifle Exhibition for Amazon, American Legion Post 141, Westside Elementary, Claremont Elementary, Justus-Tiawah Schools, and Will Rogers Junior High. Of course, they also looked sharp marching in the Claremore Veterans Day Parade.

👋Let’s welcome Whitney Lyons to the Zebra family in today’s New Teacher Feature! 👩‍🏫Mrs. Lyons is a new counselor at Westside Elementary! She graduated from OU and has been teaching since 2011. 👍When asked what she likes most about working at Claremore Public Schools, she said, “I love what a close-knit community the CPS family is! It's always a great day to be a Zebra!” ♥When asked why she teaches, she said, “I hope my students will always know that I am a safe place to lay their thoughts, feelings, and burdens they are carrying with them daily. I want them all to succeed and sometimes it's hard to succeed academically when other pieces of life are interfering with their ability to focus and cope at school. I love that I get the opportunity to work with students at such an early age on positive skills to last them a lifetime.” ‼Some interesting facts about Mrs. Lyons are that she loves the show "Good Bones" on HGTV and she met Karen Laine at a Colt’s game. Her hobbies include crafting, gardening and spending time on the lake with her family. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science from Rogers State University. ♥He teaches because he wants to help young people become the best version of themselves. His favorite thing about Claremore Public Schools is the team atmosphere. ‼Some interesting facts about Mr. Berglund are that he was an athlete growing up and throughout his time in the US Navy. He was involved in baseball, football, wrestling, track and rodeo. His hobbies include playing guitar, singing, songwriting, gardening and cooking. College Tour Time! Seventh grade students went on a field trip to Tulsa Community College where they toured the school and learned about all the different things TCC offers. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

🇺🇸As we prepare to recognize Veterans Day, military members continue to serve our country and local community! 🇺🇸Mrs. Whitaker's class received a visit from military representative, Austin Barnett! These Pre-K students were not only impressed by his Navy uniform, but also excited to find out that Mr. Barnett's mother is one of their teachers, Ms. Kristi! He chose to teach at Claremore Public Schools because of the tradition, culture and community. 👨‍👩‍👦Mr. Gelnar and his wife Macy have 2 sons named Jett and Jax, and a Bernese Mountain dog named Mookie! ‼Some interesting facts about Mr. Gelnar are that he played baseball in college and his son went viral last year on social media thanks to John Legend. ❓Did you know that CPR can double or triple a person's chance of survival? ‼️ Oklahoma law requires that all students enrolled in a public school are to receive CPR instruction prior to graduation. Last week, we had 228 seniors complete their CPR training!!! ❤️Ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they have the skills, confidence and bravery to step-up and help a stranger in need! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
