What is Leadership? Claremore's NJROTC "Corps of Cadets" are learning through a series of leadership seminars chaired by our school's top leaders. So far, Dr. Hindenburg and Coach Key have spent time with the Cadets, discussing their leadership successes (and stumbles). The discussion(s) allow the Cadets to interface with our leadership and ask hard questions - on what has worked for them and what has not. Cadet Executive Officer Zachary Vernon stated after the most recent leadership discussion, "There are lots of ways to learn leadership, but listening to leaders share their experiences augments and enhances our classroom study, and we get to know our faculty better." The Corps will continue the monthly "leadership and ethics" series of discussions through the end of the school year. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Claremore Pre-Engineering program served at Night Light Tulsa last night because becoming socially responsible is part of becoming a productive member of our society. Night Light Tulsa is an opportunity to build relationships with members of Tulsa’s homeless community and inner city neighborhoods. They currently serve between 250-300 individuals and cook an average of 440 hamburgers every Thursday evening under the bridge at the intersection of Maybelle and Reconciliation Way. The community organization provides a warm meal, clothing, essential items, books, foot washing, a kids zone, hosting, etc. Through these stations, their hope is that their guests will know they are important and cared for. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Vona Cardwell at Roosa Elementary School and Claremont Elementary was awarded a 2021 Fall Grant for "Robotics with Vex for the Competitive Flex"! "CPSF funded an extraordinary two-part Vex Robotics Grant that will provide our elementary students with an advanced enriched robotics program using the same platform as the one adopted by our Claremore Junior-High and High-School. By adopting the same platform at the elementary level, our students will acquire a secure foundation in robotics and engineering long before many of their peers. The VexGo Robots will be integrated into our robotics curriculum in our Innovation Labs, and the VexIQ Robots will be utilized in two of our new after-school robotics clubs. This is an incredible opportunity for all of our students to strengthen critical thinking, and problem solving skills; learn essential life skills, such as teamwork and collaboration; and perhaps discover a passion they may not have otherwise known existed. Ruiel Doonkeen at Claremore High School was awarded a 2021 Fall Grant for "Turn The Beat Around! Love To Hear Those Students"! "Thanks to the CPSF our CHS students will now be able to perform their own compositions that they create in the Digital Music and Technology class. The 12 Day of Christmas celebrations continues at Roosa with a Staff Indoor Snowball fight, dodgeball style. Teachers and Staff teamed up in grade levels and threw perfectly formed “snowballs” as their students cheered them on! Fun was had by all as the Roosa Staff showed off their athletic abilities. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Roller's class at Catalayah has been working hard on their 10 days of Kindness Challenge. They have been offering help to others, smiling to everyone they see, writing kind notes, inviting someone new to play, and even help someone tidy up their workspace. I think its safe to say that everyone around here has been enjoying these kindness challenges. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Enriching the quality of education in the Claremore Public Schools is our mission and we do just that by providing grants. During this grant cycle, 12 grant applications totaling more than $31,000 were received and considered. Over the next couple of weeks we will be highlighting each grant recipient. Claremore Public Schools is now live with the new electronic flyer communication tool called “Peachjar.” To view school-approved eflyers, simply click the Peachjar button on your school’s website homepage or mobile app. This “green” initiative will save our schools tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. Claremont students were excited for the performances of Professor Matt and Gertie from the Lyric Kids Clubhouse. Lyric Kids Clubhouse is an online production from the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, geared toward children of all ages. The Claremore Public School’s “Corps of Cadets” Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) conducted their Annual Military Inspection (AMI). AMI is an inspection conducted annually by the Navy to ensure that each NJROTC unit operates and maintains the Navy’s standards. First grade at Rooas received a special surprise on Monday; a visit from the kindness Grinch! Every day this week he is going to challenge them to do something nice to spread holiday cheer throughout the school! 3rd grade students in Mrs. Proctor's class at Claremont participate in an Exemplar Challenge! An Exemplar Challenge is a practice that aids in a student's writing process by helping them to become more aware of what and how they write. For an Exemplar Challenge, students are given a pre-written essay and challenged to find and fix the errors within. This challenge develops writers who think more critically about their writing. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Change is the law of nature. Some changes are planned, while some changes are thrust upon us. The fact of the matter is that these changes are here to stay and as for mastering the technology, the sooner the better. As we all know, children are exposed to tech gadgets like mobile phones, video game consoles, etc., and start interacting with them at an early age, but systematic learning is something different. We begin that systematic learning in our elementary classes at CPS in our new STEM labs. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

How do you teach students about DNA structures? You use TWIZZLERS! Students built DNA models out of Twizzlers candy to help them practice matching the organic bases together to make pairs. This activity also helped them visualize the double helix structure of DNA. And they tasted pretty good, too! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

To sing is to feel! CHS/WRJH choir program gave you all the feels at their annual Christmas concert. Led by our passionate and talented Directors, these students poured their heart and soul into this powerful performance. The 4th grade students became familiar with the difference between a singular and a possessive noun. If the noun is singular, add an apostrophe S. Example: The school’s playground was freshly mowed. If the noun is plural and ends in S, add an apostrophe. Example: The students’ desks were cleaned this morning. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

These ladies stopped at the after-school open art lab at CHS to learn how to throw a simple bowl on our ancient, heavy, massive, difficult-to-use kick wheel! Kick wheels are physically labor-intensive and require a lot of coordination, but it still brings a smile to their faces. So the fact that these girls learned to center and throw bowls within 50 minutes says a lot about their skill...and determination! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
