🌞🌳As the Oklahoma weather begins to warm up and the sun starts to shine, Claremore teachers are always looking for new ways to incorporate outdoor learning into their curriculum to provide children with a well-rounded and enriching education.
There are many benefits of getting students outside of the traditional classrooms, whether an outdoor lesson, reading a book, or just a brain break.
There has been a growing trend toward outdoor learning for elementary students in recent years. This approach to education involves taking students out of the traditional classroom setting and into the natural world to learn through hands-on experiences. In today's increasingly digital world, outdoor learning allows children to explore and appreciate the world around them, helping them develop a sense of environmental stewardship and respect for nature.
From promoting a connection with nature to improving academic outcomes, outdoor learning provides a dynamic and engaging educational experience that can benefit students in various ways. In addition to fostering a connection with nature, outdoor education helps children's health and well-being. Spending time in nature can reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and boost cognitive function.

🐥Take a "Peep" at what is going on at Claremont!
Claremont Elementary students engaged in a fun springtime STEM activity. The students were challenged to build a nest for their "peep" using toothpicks and jellybeans. With a few tools and a ton of creative freedom, they put their architectural engineering skills to use! Every student was egg-cited to build a cozy nest for their marshmallow friend!

👩🏻🔬👨🏻🔬When you swing on a swing set, do you go higher when you swing faster? What about if you push a door as hard as possible? Will it open? What are the forces causing this?
Newton's laws of motion relate an object's motion to the forces acting on it. At Will Rogers Junior High students are studying Newton’s laws of motion. They built their own Newton’s cradles out of hot glue, popsicle sticks, marbles, beads, and string.

🦓🎓Gearing up for college!
Claremore High School students had an exclusive opportunity at Roger State University for early enrollment! Their day consisted of enrolling for the 2023-2024 school year, getting their IDs, getting assistance with financial aid, working with counselors to get schedules made, and getting an on-campus experience eating lunch in the dining hall.
Such a great way to get acclimated to the college campus and get some extra help with enrollment. All of this was made possible through the Gear Up Grant, a big thank you to the Gear Up Program!

🧼Keeping Claremore Healthy!

These helpful kits include an assortment of supplies needed to ensure healthy interactions. Some items included are; sanitizing cloths, anti-bacterial spray, bandaids, kleenex, chapstick, and more.
Each student and staff member now has a kit to keep with them as they continue to practice the importance of daily hygiene. Thank you to the Oklahoma State Department of Health for their contribution to keeping our schools healthy!

IT'S TIME FOR ANOTHER TEACHER TAKEOVER
Justine, CHS senior and CPS communications intern will take over the CPS social media stories to give us a peek into CHS Prom. Justine transferred to CHS in 2021 and has acclimated to the Zebra family by getting involved in her academics, activities, and athletics. She has started her communications internship in her senior year.
Follow CPS on INSTAGRAM! Over the next few weeks, we will have several students/teachers "takeover" the stories and show you what it's like to be a part of the Zebra Family!

🐛 The Cater-pillars of learning!
Westside Pre-K classes have been playing scientists watching their class caterpillars grow over the last few weeks! They are learning about lifecycle, food requirements, and skills of overall awareness of observing another life form. This hands-on experience helps students develop new vocabulary words like "metamorphosis" or "chrysalis", and how to closely observe living in their habitats.
The students are engaged and eager to check in on their little fuzzy friends every day! Now they just wait until they turn into beautiful butterflies. 🦋🦋

They think they are just having fun but we know they are developing ifelong learning skills.
Our Kindergarten students rocked their STEM challenges! Watching them see how high they could stack plastic cups was so much fun. But did you know this simple activity actually involves tons of learning objectives? It helps develop hand-eye coordination, promotes teamwork, builds critical thinking skills, teaches spatial awareness, and generates problem-solving skills.
